  1. Ummm.... This topic died. Did the blue stars shock and awe?
  2. I also got two copies. I didn't order two and I did not get billed for two. Odd.

  4. Crown won music ensemble last year with a 19.9 (10.0 is MUS, and 9.9 in TECH). I don't think they have a reason to be concerned.
  5. The stands emptied quickly during the rain and in that view you can only see the upper deck.
  6. The drum majors are lining up for awards.
  7. Perfect timing with the weather. BK finished and the skies opened up for a few moments and dropped a downpour. Currently Richmond is experiencing a light drizzle.
  8. Btw, the turf at this stadium was laid last week. The logos and backfield yard markers haven't been put on yet. Thankfully enough of the installation was complete to hold the show.
  9. From: http://www.southwindalumni.org/index.php On Monday, March 9 the Southwind board of directors voted unanimously to field a corps for the 2010 Drum Corps International season. “This is a green light for me to begin hiring staff, arranging audition and camp dates, solicit sponsors for equipment, recruit new members, and make all of the other arrangements necessary for a successful return,” said Southwind Director Mike Loeffelholz . “The decision was made now so that we have plenty of time to get everything in place for auditions in November & December.”

  11. I completed my 1990's collection with 91 and 96.
  12. Nope. Vanguard played Dynasty although they did switch to Kanstul Trumpets in 03. Spirit had a mix of Yamaha and Kanstul instruments. I know that the mellos were Kanstuls, the baris were a mix of Yamaha and Kanstul, the euphs were Kanstul, and the Contras were Kanstul.
  13. 2000 Cadets (Yamaha) Blue Devils (Dynasty) *BD had little Kanstul tubas this summer because the Dynasty marching tubas were not finished. 2001 Cavaliers (Yamaha) Santa Clara Vanguard (Dynasty moved to Yamaha in 04) Spirit (Kanstul, moved to King in 07) Carolina Crown (Dynasty, moved to King in 04, moved to Yamaha in 07) 2002 Bluecoats (Kanstul, moved to Yamaha in 05) Boston Crusaders (Dynasty, moved to King in 05) Crossmen (Yamaha) Glassmen (Dynasty) Magic of Orlando (Dynasty, moved to King in 05) 2003 Phantom Regiment (King) 2004 Blue Knights (King) Madison Scouts (Dynasty, moved to Yamaha in 06) 2005 Southwind (King) 2006 Blue Stars (King) 2007 Troopers (Yamaha) 2008 Pioneer (King)
  14. Where do you live? I also recieved the email from DCI this afternoon.
  15. I am still waiting on my dvds. I recieved a bill on Monday (11-20-06), but have not recieved shipping notification. What is the deal?
  16. I did some shopping around and found the King Ultimate Series is in the same price range as the Yamaha marching brass.
  17. I would add 97 Cadets to the list. The end of the opener and the end of the show were crazy!
  18. As far as euphs go I like the King 1129. I had the oppertunity to play a demo version of the 1129 euph and really liked it. As far as baris go: I like the way the Yamaha plays, nice feel, great intonation, and tone. The only problem with the Yamaha is the valve throw is a bit too long. My personal rankings: Bari: 1. Yamaha-fix the valve throw and it would be perfect. 2. Kanstul-sound is a bit bright for my taste, but has solid intonation. 3. King-flat low range between f and low Bb. 4. Dynasty-The old ones over blow easily. I haven't played the newest version yet. Euphs: 1. King-plays very much like a concert euph, solid from top to bottom. 2. Kanstul-the biggest euph made and it is a beast of an instrument, but the sound gets a bit edgy. 3. Dynasty-has some intonation issues above the staff and felt a bit stuffy in the low range. According to my brasswind catalog King Ultimate Series is the most expensive line available and Dynasty is the least expensive.
  19. The current bachs are copies of the old king marching brasss (the pre-ultimate series). Bach offers a mello, bari, and sousa. Before Bach/Selmer merged with Conn/UMI the Bach line were Yamaha copies.
