  1. You get downvoted, but I'm not sure why. You're absolutely right, just because you're going against the grain and stepping on corps toes must mean that you are wrong.
  2. Why was this post downvoted into oblivion? It was hilarious.
  3. Best of luck to all the kids at Teal. I figured the bus situation sounded fishy to begin with.
  4. Feel like the spread shouldn't be that much. Should be interesting.
  5. So has anyone else heard that Teal Sound folded right after the competition?
  6. Everyone has so much to improve in their show this early in the season. After that statement I'd knock on wood if I were you. ;)
  7. So I need DCPs help! I'm having a competitiOn with our staff in who can get more views on our respective YouTube videos of random things. I made this on the way to our housing site. Please watch it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SACV3n9mD4I&list=UU1GOlCC4Q208w07c9LmuLnA&index=1&feature=plcp
  8. The Cavaliers got new uniforms in 2010.
  9. Yeah they really need to work on their feet if they want to compete for a title.
  10. Yeah, I've performed and taught complex dance rep. Marching at anything about 180 bpm while playing some crazy stuff is leagues harder. Your core should be engaged while marching anyway, same muscle groups. To say "gracefully standing up" [because lets be honest, true ballet in drum corps is going to be almost impossible to achieve] while playing a softer passage is harder just seems asinine to me.
  11. I know this is going to get flamed to hell, but moving and playing is much harder then body movements, so I'm not really impressed that they're doing body movements while playing a ballad.
  12. I had a perfect .gif for this but DCP doesn't allow .gifs...thanks DCP for ruining my joke.
  13. The demon ending was put together by the design team and they had everything planned out with what they WOULD do. It was never written out or rehearsed though.
  14. Madison Scouts 1992, the end of the show. Oh my lord.
  15. To be fair, it's fairly common knowledge that the Cadets are the most expensive corps to march, tuition wise anyway.
  16. I'm not so sure about that. Yes the opportunity is being offered to current members of the corps, but they weren't made aware of this until the release came out (as far as I know). Don't you think they have some entitlement to have a shot at the solo first? IMHO the second key fact that you point out has nothing to do with my argument. Sure give the money to the soloist, thats all well and good. All I'm trying to say is that this whole gesture to bring in someone that isn't in the corps already to play a solo doesn't really reflect well on what the staff thinks of the personnel they have at hand. If I was in that section, I'd be pretty peeved.
  17. I see this as a personal insult to the section. Look at it this way: Did Phantom put out a flyer to be their featured soloist for "Into The Light"? If the staff at Cadets thought that anyone in the section could handle being the soloist they wouldn't have made the choice to offer the spot outside of the drum corps.
  18. I'm not so sure about that, I think he has a valid point here. Look at it this way. Kids who are looking into Surf are usually going to also be looking at The Reading Buccaneers, Raiders, any of the other "local" corps [lower tier or DCA] that aren't the Cadets basically. With Cadets2 and Surf being so close to each other, distane wise, gives kids who don't want to march with anything that has to do with the Cadets a place to go, its a great alternative for them. Plus with Cadets2 is a DCA corps, this gives kids who wanted a DCI experience even more incentive. You also have to remember a reason some of the kids at Surf are there is because Cadets was the only other corps that was close to them and either they didn't feel like they could cut it talent wise or just don't want to march with the Cadets.
