DCA Finals - National Anthem
Fastone replied to BrassCats's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
I remember the Olympic retreat, I don't remember the unified playing of the National Anthem though admittedly after Lefty Mayer passing the night before, we(Sky) were kind of in a fog. -
And???, Let's let chickens hatch before we count them

I grew up playing on a tilted snare drum wearing a sling and leg rest, however, I was taught to play in a manner that was perpendicular to the ground. When I went to playing on a level surface, it made no difference and I've gone back and forth over the years. btw, some would say that drums were made level just for the purpose of advanced marching techniques.

Marty Hurley: a stroke this AM and now in a coma
Fastone replied to Jim Nevermann's topic in Percussion Planet
Per John Wooten on Facebook 6:10 pm today "I am sorry I have not posted more news about Marty lately, but recently there hasn't been a lot of good news. Today Marty decided to move on. He has been released from the hospital and all tubes have been removed. He is comfortable and at home. He requested no visitors during his final days. God Bless Marty Hurley". This is sad news, I hope he is pain free and has peace in his time left. -
While i agree with you, sometimes the doors you bang on don't bring exactly what you desire or need, as you know there's more to it than just filling spots.

I really enjoyed 09,10 but this year it went to a new level

Hurricanes Color Guard
Fastone replied to Donny Drum Corps's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Perhaps the synergistic effect of the overall corps performance propelled the guard to that extra tenth. -
All the best to you Tom, even though you won't be active in DCA, you'll always be a part of drumcorps.

Hurricanes Color Guard
Fastone replied to Donny Drum Corps's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
All I will say is that in the final analysis, it was a difference of one tenth and while it must sting terribly, it doesn't take anything away from the fact that the Hurcs guard was incredible this season -
For a bunch of folks the only cleaning that was accomplished was bailing water and getting debris away from their property

Actually Andy as it turns out, Irene was a bit more than first met the eye. Not too much much in the way of power outages but, lots of flooding and tree damage

I will say this, Class A is Bringing it this year
-
Ok, let's get back to the predictions. I predict since we've already had a earthquake and a hurricane, next weekend will be excellent weather-wise and Championships will be a blast.
-
My understanding is that the Class A corps would still perform in the Class A slots that they finish in. They would however attain top ten voting rights
-
Which I'm very glad that it just turned out to be a bad rain storm

We will see on Saturday
