  1. I think that one was always a safe assumption haha
  2. I'm really excited to see what they are gonna do! Agghhh I can't wait!
  3. Please! I need music to listen to haha! Now all the corps are waiting so late that I don't have a good playlist for working!
  4. Wow. I never thought I would have to hear Music for Prague 1968 on the field. I am really interested to see how that is arranged
  5. Yes and yes. I'd also recommend downloading more RAM to your TV for smooth video, and overclocking it's graphics card to improve your monitors resolution. :D
  6. Oh I'm aware, I was just saying that they were compressing the source during the encoding so poorly that the decompressed output on the "720p" setting could hardly be called that. It wasn't terrible, but you could visibily see where the tiles. I asked them about it in the support this last year and they confirmed it was their encoder settings.
  7. I for one just want way less compression of the video. It was hardly 720p, there were artifacts like crazy on the images. Also, I don't know why in this day and age it wasn't offered in 1080p.
  8. (One of the pieces was High Wire by John Mackey, the arrangement was really cool and I still have recordings on my phone)
  9. That, and they never asked questions about the video quality which in my opinion was the most disappointing thing about the platform.
  10. Imgur is a site that lets you upload your photos and link them for free, I think there is some small compression, but it's a pretty reliable service if you were looking for a different option
  11. On a slightly different note, I'be convinced my roommates to watch some of the previous years blurays with me by turning it into a drinking game. Not sure if they are excited about this years blurays coming in cause they enjoy drum corps or they just want an excuse to get drunk...
  12. Ugh, I should have known this would happen. Mine is likely to arrive early this week... when I'm home on break, and there's nobody at my apartment to receive them... hopefully they don't just leave it at the door like they have before...
  13. So, I am on the engineering side, but here's my experience. I auditioned for SCV going into my freshman year but didn't end up making the final cut at the call-back. The year after my freshman year I didn't reaudition do to other circumstances. The next summer I did an internship at a mid sized company (Silicon Labs) and now this next semester and summer I will be working for one of the big 3 tech companies. Here's my perspective, I will probably regret never doing one summer of drum corps, but at the same time, I still had an amazing time at Silicon Labs. You meet a lot of people and make a good number of friends, learn a ton, and have some pretty cool experiences, and get to do some impactful work. Plus you make good money, and it really does help propel your career early on. I can't speak for the drum corps experience, but an internship isn't just a corporate grind, it's also a unique experience in itself.
  14. I don't know how much Koter had to do with the program though, he wasn't announced as being on their team until halfway through the offseason. They may have already had the show in place
  15. 2012 SCV I would say. It's music book was awesome
  16. As a current UIUC student, marching Illini are great! ...It's just the football game on either side of it... coming from Texas football, it kinda makes me sad to watch...
  17. toss me a PM too, I wan't to hear your opinion on the texas bands as well
  18. On Nights Edge A show that invokes the feeling and visuals of dusk and dawn You could use the colors of sunsets and sunrise Music that could be used includes Racing Against the Sinset by Philip Wesley and Hymn to the blue hour by Mackey, possibly within blue empires by PLC Opener starts with the corps lines up on the end zone, and the corps moves from side 2 to side 1 in an elongated fashion. Guard has double sided flags, with one side brilliant sunset silks and the other side deep blue, and as the corps pass them they spin with the deep blue facing the audience.
  19. Well after the great blue stars schism of early 2017, the half of the corps that retains the guard and visual programs will fair better than the other half hahaFixed it, was supposed to be crossmen
  20. Hmmm... Let's try: 1) Crown 2) Bluecoats 3) SCV (narrow victory over BD at finals night 4) BD 5) Cavies (hold the position all year) 6) Blue Knights 7) Phantom Regiment 8) Blue Stars 9) Cadets 10) Academy (attempts overly ambitious design, and succeeds) 11) Boston 12) Crossmen This is probably a pretty awful prediction, cause I am really bad at this
  21. I can see their use of elevation as something that really gets picked up. They way they would not just use it to highlight moments, but also as another flavor of staging, such as in the ballad when they had people at a bunch of different heights playing
