  1. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, everybody.
  2. High cam only? Just making sure I'm not missing anything. I'm new to the whole Flo thing this year.
  3. Couldn't find my roku box quick enough. It's a bit clunky, but I'm watching Flo through the Firefox browser on my fire TV stick. So far, so good. Wish I could figure out how to maximize the screen -- I've currently just got the video box centered on my TV.
  4. I may have seen that for sale at Kings Island.
  5. I hope the times listed are really EDT, and not EST (as shown on the original post). Otherwise, most of us are going to be off by an hour.
  6. Was anybody, last year, able to send a cast from their android phone to a Fire TV (stick or box, doesn't matter) while watching a Flo Marching live stream? They have a Roku app, and I do have one Roku box, but they don't yet have a Fire TV app. I sure would like to watch on my Fire TV connected TV.
  7. :39 ... Is that a In 'n' Out Burger themed Bloo t-shirt? Can't quite make out what the back says, other than "Bloo" something.
  8. You mean, things that they should have learned NOT to do in that recent college education they allegedly got? I mean, that is one of the purposes of Flo, right? To give some recent live event production and management graduates a chance to get their foot in the door?
  9. You think they could have sprung for a couple microphones? Or, chose to do their announcement in a less echoey room? Jeez, that was hard to listen to.
  10. The "negative harmony" version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
  11. Naw, it wasn't meant to be snarky. It was meant to be fun and jazzy. Like the show. The point was that you could put just about any placeholder name into the pinned post for Bluecoats, and they could probably design a show around it using the announced rep. We can make a sub-thread out of it -- give a name to Bloo's 2018 show. I'll start: "Eff'n'jay" (short for Fun and Jazzy).
  12. Just call it "Blooooo's Jazzy 2018 Show." Because a title or theme or story or gimmick really won't make a difference, from an enjoyment standpoint. IMO, of course.
  13. So, they've gone from trampolines to roller coaster track? https://youtu.be/AbPe2byLd8M
  14. Shouldn't the money go to the Legends drum corps, and benefit the kids marching there?
  15. Am I the only one that doesn't take the "24 hours" part of the plea as literal? I mean, it's not like it's $99,999.99 at 24:00:01 and the thing is a failure, all donations resort to zero, and they fold immediately, right? RIGHT? Although, you gotta appreciate NE's hour by hour analysis. That's a mathematician's mind at work! I can smell the Excel from here.
  16. You remember that commercial he had making fun of Flo (the progressive insurance spokesperson). The circle of life!
  17. Agreed. Being at a show in person is FAR superior.
  18. Ding ding! This is exactly my suspicion as well.
  19. Obviously, there's no way to prove that "the majority of the wrestling community can't stand them." There's just bits of anecdotal evidence. The "Flo versus the wrestling community" issue, as it pertains to the Oklahoma State/ Penn State situation, is multi-faceted. Flo apparently signed an exclusive agreement to be the sole video provider for Oklahoma State wrestling matches. At the end of the duals season, the OSU/PSU match was set up to be the wrestling equivalent of football's BCS -- essentially a matchup between the top two programs to decide who was number 1. OSU was hosting the meet, and so Flo claimed it had the exclusive rights to the broadcast. I think there was some legal maneuvering as well. Long story short, wrestling fans outside of OSU were a bit peeved that they would have to subscribe to a service to see what was essentially the dual meet wrestling equivalent of a national championship. Then, (and here comes the parallels to our situation), they were not able to provide a suitable stream of the OSU/PSU meet. Here's one viewpoint, from a Penn State sports blog: (source article) My take. Flo is trying, but probably grew a bit too fast or spread themselves too thin, and are having scaling issues. They will absolutely have to fix these issues (both on the marching arts side, and on the sports side) in order for their business to succeed.
  20. Perhaps it has to do with Walmart's current world headquarters being in Bentonville? I dunno.
  21. This is my thought as well. Somewhere, a few pages back, I said the name of the show might as well be "Four really cool songs, with a jagged stage. And bowler hats." Or, it could be just named "Pretty effin entertaining."
  22. So, playing devil's advocate here (and this plays into your ordinals idea), why do we even need an absolute scoring system in the first place. If it is apparently completely taboo to compare scores between corps unless it is in the same show (and only sometimes), they why not use a relative scoring system? First corps to perform gets some base number ( 50, for example) in all captions. From there, you rank the other corps within that caption in a relative sense, with no ceiling or floor implied. Pioneer comes on first, gets an automatic 50. Crossmen come on next, and are significantly better than Pioneer in that caption, they get a 65. Blue Knights are marginally better than XMen, they get a 67. Phantom, not quite as good as BK, but still a bit better than Xmen -- 66. SCV blows them all away -- 78. Give the judge one more opportunity to adjust scores after all performances. If you want, you could then normalize everything to 100 points, or do whatever you need to do to add the captions together to get a final score potential of 100. A corps that sweeps all captions would get that 100 score. The scores for the other corps would kind of be a percentage of goodness compared to the winning corps.
