  1. Congratulations to Mr. Cartwright and Mr. Moreno for joining the Regiment's Design Team, which will also include Will Pitts and Rob Ferguson ( and perhaps others to be named later). And, although I have not heard anything for sure, don't forget that Marie Grana Czapinski served as a visual consultant for PR in 2016; I hope she returns as well. And a huge THANKS to Bret Kuhn for all of his contributions to the Regiment phamily since he joined us in 2012. Enjoy your summers with the grands and take them to a drum corps show. It is interesting to note that Wes, Mark and Will already work together as the Creative Team at "beyond marching and music design" in Atlanta.
  2. My nomination for the Devils' 2017 program is " An Ode to the Odellos" supported by whatever BD classics their talented design team deems worthy of their founders.
  3. Brasso, since my understanding is that the caption awards are based on the 3-night average of each corps' results, I was hoping to avoid having to do the calculations required. I think I will query the DCI site again and try to dig a little deeper. Thanks for the suggestion.
  4. No offense taken, Liahona. Hopefully, George Dixon's mention of the incorrect Ott year was the last of my mistakes. And thanks to all who chipped in on the need to pay more attention to spelling.
  5. Thank you George. My mistake; it was 2015, not 2011. By the way, does anyone know if there is a site which lists all of the caption winners since 1972?
  6. I agree and that error was already addressed. I remember trying to make sure I got the spelling of my Sicilian brother-in-law's last name correct. Was it Giacomazzo or Giacommazo? He was proud of his name and it mattered to him. I am not normally this stubborn on DCP but my question of WHAT ELSE I missed was addressed to Liahona. Why doesn't everyone let him answer it...or not?
  7. x, given the music choices in this 2014 show, we could have had this during the first 5 minutes, a i minute deflating of the duck swan and then a joust between Dracula and King Kong during the remaining 5 minutes. Now, that would have been interesting?...inexplicable?....insane?
  8. Perhaps and, if so, let's just agree that BAC snared them both. My question to Liahona was if the original post was so full of errors and two of these errors were addressed, WHAT ELSE did I miss? I'm just trying to learn from those who seem to have insights into BAC.
  9. 84BD, thanks for catching my misspelling of Cipriani. I did invite others to contribute to our understanding of Gino's C.V. As for Liahona's comment about the post being so full of errors, what else did I miss or mistate?
  10. Liahona, I am delighted that your 25 year drought has come to an end. Not just a shower or a storm but a monsoon has occurred. I hope growth will be the result and that, within BAC's multi-year plan. a DCI championship will be the reward.
  11. Mello with the Regiment 2006, especially on Biebl's Ave Maria and Mahler's Resurrection Symphony.
  12. Re Mr. Cipriano, the BAC site stated he was a brass instructor with BD from "90 to "99, was Brass Caption Head with the Cadets from "00 to "01, was BCH with Magic of Orlando from "02 to "03, was BCH with SCV in "04 and BCH with the Cadets from "05 to "16. From "01 to "04 and "07 to "11, he also had stints with the Syracuse Brigadiers and the Reading Buccaneers respectively. It also noted that under Mr. Cipriano's guidance and leadership, the Cadets won the Jim Ott trophy in 2000, 2005 and 2011. I am sure others with knowledge of his contributions will add to our understanding of his C.V. in drum corps. Congratulations to Boston for bringing home one of their own and for also snaring Mr. McNutt.
  13. The video posted by Cappybara is one of many traditions of the Regiment. As I understand it, the musicians are all brass line age-outs for that particular year. The song for semifinal wakeups might be different each year ( in 2015 it was Amazing Grace ) but for each final's wakeup it is Elsa's Procession. How would you like to wakeup to this each morning?. I would.
  14. Perhaps, with DC-86's permission, we can rename this thread "Staff Schadenfreude".
  15. Brasso, see fromthepressbox. It has a full recap of the prelims. By the way, I tried a pm but you were not receiving. Are you comfortably numb?
  16. Based on the Prelim results for Brass and Analysis, it was 1. Blu 19.35 average; 2. CC 19.30; 3. BD 19.10; 4 (tie) SCV and Cad 18.70. Based on the average Perc scores of Prosperie and Fox. it was 1. SCV 19.15; Blu 19.10; 3. BD 18.75; 4. Cad 18.70; 5. CC 18.425.
  17. I agree with Sutasaurus : let's give this type of commentary a rest, at least for another few days. This 2016 Phantom Regiment thread was started by Cappybara on August 11, 2015, 3 days after the 2015 finals. I fully expect him to kickstart the 2017 Phantom Regiment on/about August 16. Why don't we all postpone this chatter until then and focus on enjoying the last couple of days of Regiment's 2016 quest for the highest competitive placement possible.
  18. JP judged Field Perc on Friday but is judging Ensemble Perc tonight, switching roles with GH. My info came from the original poster on this thread. I just crosschecked with FTPressbox and they listed JP on the field and GH judging Ensemble for both nights. I apologize.
  19. I tend to agree with JoeDz, especially his emphasis on just enjoying the shows. But, within the context of our delight in exploring the minutia of drum corps, I do have question re tonight's panel. It is the same as Friday with the exception, as noted by others earlier, of a switch between G. Howarth and J. Prosperie on the percussion subcategories. Any thoughts on why?
  20. CorpsRelic and PamahoNow: Thank you both for the alerts re the Desert Ridge location. Upon review, I will be going to the AMC Deer Valley 17 @ 3033 W. Agua Fria Freeway, which is in the shopping center on the southwest quadrant of the 101 and I-17. I still intend to wear the same hat and t-shirt.
  21. I will be at the AMC/Desert Ridge in Phoenix. Join me; look for the old guy in a white ball cap with a red chevron and a red SUTA t-shirt.
  22. It seems to me that the Diablos design team is alway trying to, if I may quote from their 2nd place show in 2008, Constantly Risking Absurdity. The use of the K-pop music in 2015 and the use of a Bieber song in a 2016 program allegedly built around a Shakespeare theme are but recent examples. What puzzles me, in light of the superb marching and playing talent possessed by BD's MMs, is why these gifts are ignored in favor of devoting precious minutes of their programs to base, trivial music. How about another beautiful ballad instead?
  23. BoyWonder1911 or Cappybara, would one of you please explain to this old guy what "nerfed" means. Thank you.
  24. Mike, what a wonderful synopses of each corps' performance. This is what DCP should be all about. By the way, I hope the Gertrude Stein reference in the Regiment comments does not result in Mr. Crocker's introduction on finals night in Indianapolis as "On the starting line, from Oakland, California, DCI is proud to present the Phantom Regiment"
