  1. Congratulations on 7th this evening! Your shows are artistic, beautiful and intriguing. Keep up the great work in 2017! P.S. Percussion is underrated.
  2. Broke down and subscribed. Since I am a BK homer, I of course viewed the 2015 "Because" show right out of the gate. Two parts of the show are cut out because of copyright issues I am sure, but at the end, part of the closer that uses the same voice overs, the sound is muted and disclaimer appears but the visual still played. My question is, why couldn't they do that where they cut the other two parts out - they are voice overs from the same piece of music? Why couldn't there be silence, and visual still there? The only reason I ask is because one of the best drills movements (imho) of the show is cut out!
  3. The music is great! The music after the playing of the Moonlight Sonata backward sounds uplifting and joyous as if the suffering is finally ending...then the voice goes from Borg Queen to girl from 2014 at the end to make the statement that the suffering is over and now.....everyone can reflect on "That One Second".
  4. My personal take on this... The voice over begins with "It's going to happen very soon..." so maybe 30 seconds to 1 minute later is the delay to the "very soon" reference in which the music that plays during that portion is "hopeful" sounding....like maybe an "Aha moment" that if the Moonlight Sonata is played backward all the horror and suffering will end. Like "Let's rise up and do it!" music...and then the Moonlight Sonata is played backward and then the suffering and horror ends. Again...just my take.
  5. Good Luck today Blue Knights! Your show is beautiful and stunning. Have a great run! The Great Event is happening!!!!
  6. I'd be most shocked if...there is no moaning/whining/complaining after the final results on Saturday.
  7. I would like to thank you kevingamin for the wonderful commentary about the performing corps. At one point, I was thinking this was the most enjoyable thread I had read all season long. Great commentary from kevingamin, funny banter back and forth between users...then it seemed to get ugly again. Sigh. I will be in the theater watching on Thursday...then watching the streaming of semis and finals - wishing I was seeing these shows live because I know that there is always something a little lost in translation if not experiencing the shows live. Good luck to all the corps. Fanstastic shows all around!! You have worked extremely hard all summer to entertain us and entertained we are!
  8. Are they only doing stand still? I heard corps has been dealing with illnesses.
  9. I haven't seen it yet...I sure hope they find a place to put it in!
  10. Wishing Phantom Regiment's members a speedy recovery...Get well soon!
  11. I have seen the comments before about a "full panel" and "not a full panel" of judges. Can someone explain that to me? What is the difference and why do some shows apparently have a full panel and other do not? Great score BK! This year's BD show is pretty impressive!
  12. My kid doesn't appear to be demoralized! My kid believes in and loves the show. They are performing the heck out of it. Go Blue Knights!!!!
  13. Gonna be periscoping battery lot in Oceanside. @robthomasfan
  14. Going to try to make the Oceanside show. Will be at Rose Bowl on Saturday for sure! Going to try to Periscope!
  15. My kid made drum corps a few years ago. I had never been exposed to it prior to that. So yes, I am relatively new to DCI. I was told from the beginning not to get onto these forums...guess I should have listened :-) Right from the beginning I was impressed with the level of talent, athleticism, and dedication that these young adults have to their craft. I was also impressed with their level of professionalism and camaraderie between corps. Like one big family. What I have not been impressed with are the rude comments I see here on these forums and sometimes hear in the stands! You should look around and see who might be sitting around you. I understand personal preferences, likes and dislikes, but keep the rude ones to yourselves - they don't do anyone any good. Each corps bring their own style to the field - some classic and some innovative - but they are all working just as hard as every other corps. I too get a bit bummed that at the beginning of the season, here on the west coast, we don't get to see the glorious finished product from any of the corps. Each year what turns up in Indy is very different than the shows I saw live on the west coast. But isn't that the case all across the country? Shows are not "complete" yet. They may have music, drill and props on the field, but changes and updates are constantly happening during the season, some small some big. I just want to say that I am in awe of the talent of the marching members, will continue to go to live shows and soak up every minute of it - whether complete or incomplete. Bravo to all that performed at Stanford. Thanks for a wonderful night!
  16. Not this again....again one could argue that every show is not complete. There were guards there tonight marching around not twirling/spinning anything...EVERY corps out there tonight will have drill changes...no one has the "finished product" yet. The finished product will be seen in Indy. Chill out...get over it and enjoy the shows! They were all awesome - no matter how long they currently are. Great job tonight from all corps at Stanford!!!
  17. Was at the show live tonight...crowd reaction/applause seemed much bigger for SCV than BD. I felt more energy from SCV than BD tonight. Madison was impressive too! Great response from the crowd. Academy show was very entertaining! Definitely a crowd pleaser. BK - can't wait until the entire show is on the field. What they have sounds differently awesome! I see/hear pieces and sounds from the last few years woven into what they have so far. Great shows tonight - great venue tonight! Can't wait to see how they all evolve throughout the season!
  18. Someone said BK started spring training May 15 or 16th. No it was a week later than that. In any case, it would have been great to have the entire show on the field, but if they don't want to have their corps learn drill that will just be "filler" drill until the good stuff can be incorporated into the show and waste time on "unnecessary" drill then so be it. None of these shows we saw tonight will look the same two weeks from now, one month from now or at finals. You think BDs closing drill will look that boring weeks from now? If you want to get petty, BK wasn't the only corps to not have the entire show on the field. Technically BD didn't have their entire show on the field either because the props are not complete. So to the fan who said they feel ripped off - do you feel ripped off that you didn't get to see BDs entire show either? I am sure that BDs production will be even more amazing once the props are finished - which we didn't get to see tonight. So quit hating on BK! We pay the price for seeing shows early in the season...no show remains the same and they only get better as the season goes along. We know that all shows are practice for the regionals and finals. The shows were fantastic tonight. Bravo to all. It is going to be one hella of a season!
  19. LOVE Genesis!!! What a great recovery. Glad the DM wasn't hurt!
  20. Can't wait to hear your report!!! From the bits on Periscope it sounds very cool and the uniforms look amazing! The guards' uniforms look like a combination of the last several years rolled into one!
