  1. Guard scores were very very odd last night anyway????
  2. Just left the Alamo Dome. Bottom line : The Blue Devils are absolutely head and shoulders above everyone else. Vanguard are obviously good and the drum line is superb if we were open and impartial BD are once again top of the activity Just incredible !
  3. We were at the show last night. It is the first time that we had seen either BD or SCV live and truly there is no comparison. The BD show has so many interesting and memorable, clever visuals that the show duration goes by in a flash. You can't help but recollect and smile. The SCV show is good but it really is hard to recollect any of the key visual moments. Quite honestly, if the shows were reversed i.e. BD had the SCV show and SCV had that of BD, SCV would be winning by a mile. Looking forward to seeing them again today in San Antonio and maybe the dome will provide a different perspective? Also really looking forward to seeing BAC
  4. Correction, possibly the greatest show of all time ?
  5. Could be one of the greatest shows of all time ! Can't wait to see the show live Friday and Saturday. Outstanding !!
  6. Great draw for San Antionio show congratulations BAC ! We will be there in support, can't wait !
  7. It is a really good DCI year in that there are a number of outstanding programs including SCV, Crown and BC but The Blue Devils show could be one of if not the greatest of all time. What more can one say? We as specators should all enjoy this extra special and quite possibly milestone year! I will be in San Antonio next weekend, so looking forward to it.
  8. Yes absolutely, it is BD once again resetting the bar! BUT in order to see and fully appreciate it, we have to be totally open and impartial. Now that's hard!
  9. Yes, absolutely but then, how safe are Cavies from being caught and passed by the accelerating Boston train? I for one would not be at all surprised if they finish ahead of both of them at Finals. Clearly, the corps 'Believes'and as a result have easablished that special, self fueling momentum. As a result, IMO, they will continue to improve beyond most people's expectations and are going to be very hard to stop! Good for Boston Crusaders. Very exciting !
  10. Boston are clearly on a roll and very well deserved, I wonder just how far they can climb up the ladder by Finals?
  11. Incredible show, so much talent in the writing, instructing, performing, soloists etc etc. It could rank as one of the best of all time? We will see. I am so happy that I will be there to see the encore performance in Indianapolis !!!
  12. Good result for SCV tonight Congratulations ! Last years Bluecoats show was fresh and new and this year is basically the same show with different props. (Can't blame them, it won in 2016!) BD Gold, (Amazing corps and show!) SCV Silver (Super Improved, look out 2018!) and then Bloo or CC Bronze (Great corps with great shows) My prediction for 2017! In any event, its a good, competitive year.
  13. Just watched the 2017 show again having now seen all of the medal contenders (seen Crown and Cadets recently at both Cranston and Lynn shows) and IMO the gap between BD and the rest is not actually a gap, it's an inormous chasm! Cant wait to see them in Houston and San Antonio !
  14. I guess I don't quite comprehend the reasons and or logic behind the shift from uniform to costume. Is it : 1. Simply the fashionable thing to do? 2. Uniform manufacturers have done an outstanding selling job (if this is it, I should hire them!) 2. Required (or perceived to be required) to obtain additional points in GE. Where a uniform would yield less? If so, is that really true or is it a misnomer? What this equates to is that a great theme, excellent, challenging and innovative writing, very talented performers etc wearing a uniform will more likely than not, lose the day while, wearing a costume they would have won? 3. Needed to attract members/staff. Therefore, not providing the promise of a 'costume' at recruiting time would deter the youth and talented writers/instructors of today from joining the uniform wearing corps? Progress and innovation is expected and therefore cultivated in an artistic activity like drum corps. Most we can rationalize but this one has me (and I suspect, thousands of others) perplexed There may be a host of other reasons but it would be valuable to have some light cast on the route cause of the 'required'shift As an aside: Are the members happy and proud to chosen costumes this year? As a test : Did they go home or to their friends house, don their uniform and proudly appear in the doorway anticipating and receiving a barrage of supportive comments and clear admiration. "This is obviously far superior to the uniform you showed us last year" I don't think so but I could be wrong?
  15. Need to do something about regulating the use of electronic amplification. Ears ringing after watching bluecoats who have amps all over the field. Tough to say now what is real and what is recoded or fabricated by electronics It will of course be louder and include even more wizardry next year and the year after that, unless we do something. Unless of course that is what the community wants ? In the end, will we really need any musicians, when we can simply manufacture the sound we want at any point of the show!
  16. Really enjoyed being at prelims. The standard of the activity continues to improve at an astonishing rate. Hard to comprehend really. BD show is incredible. The corps oozes confidence creativity and class in a way that no other corps can. Can't wait to see the show again tonight Good luck BD
  17. Good show yesterday and IMO probably the right winner. Surprised that Crown were ahead of BD though? Don't get that one but there it is. Looks like BAC might have a problem making finals, Ooops!
  18. Good show yesterday and IMO probably the right winner. Surprised that Crown were ahead of BD though? Don't get that one but there it is. Looks like BAC might have a problem making finals, Ooops!
  19. Attended last nights TOC show and saw BD live for the first time this year We live on the East Coast and have seen Bluecoats a couple of times, thought they might be a valid competitor! Watched the last part of BD practice yesterday at the Berry Center. No it's not even close! We estimated that BD should be 5 points ahead, which translates into 1 point, just because (can't go there!) So creative and exudes quality in all departments. How do they do it year after year? Judging results and motivations, who knows? What I do know is that we are very excited to see the BD show again today in San Antonio Have a great show Blue Devils !
  20. BD are always 2 steps ahead of everyone else in the field, cant wait to see them in Texas!
  21. Very much looking forward to the premier tonight, see what Bluecoats, Phantom and Boston have for shows. (Boston music is wicked awesome) Having watched a couple of shows online though, I just cant imagine anyone coming close to BD but we will see!! What has happened to Cadets show creativity or am I missing something?
  22. Pretty much the current standings for me 1. Blue Devils 2. Crown/Cadets 3. Bluecoats
