  1. quite slim on a number of States where they have traditionally drawn mms and where shows still exist. Example: no performances in Ohio, S.C., or Illinois.
  2. maybe Bilby's taking them to his castle? they took my call for Drums Across the Arctic seriously? They will be doing LOTS of July 4th parades to pay the bills? As long as they don't do a midseason uniform change like one season...
  3. Only listed for 22 performances including Indy. Also no longer on Saturday night at Allentown; they've been switched with Crown and Boston.
  4. So why do all the old ladies dye their hair red if they don't let the grays turn blue?
  5. Boston and Cavies seem to have the fullest tour and will see each other more often than not. Encorps still listed for Allentown and several shows. Cadets tour seems like nothing compared to years when they did as many as 42 appearances. I still believe there is an ethical question of charging mms so much for so few actual performances and to do more than move props.
  6. How many did the corps from Ireland have in Indy last summer. Should corps like Encorps get a foreign address and book themselves in International Class? DCI Tour schedule still has Encorps listed for Allentown appearance.
  7. That's noon EST. Indy is in the Eastern Time Zone. I guess some people are still back in the days of Addison and Lombard, Illinois.
  8. Very few of the current WC directors have been at the helm for very long. Would this be where former WC directors become consultants/mentors/etc.? What would the criteria be? Some WC directors left legacies needing much "surgery" for the patient to regain health. Sometimes people living in a bubble like to pat themselves on the back for the myth of the great job they think they are doing.
  9. Glad to see Dan Febus and Peter Bates back home at Regiment. Their sense of ownership of what it means to be a Regiment member is quite the plus for both tradition and transition.
  10. do the 22 people pushing props around the field count towards the 55? how about the off-field sound techs if they are not yet age 22?
  11. Thanks for pointing this out. Interesting that it, similar to the Over 55 "rule" for Open Class, is happening in the dead time and not at the Janual, etc. Interesting to read, a lot to digest.
  12. if it comes with A Door, watch out. 😄
  13. Will 7thRegt be called to the ready for their annual therapeutic visit for the recovering sea creatures? It's always a splash. https://www.wtnh.com/news/connecticut/new-london/mystic-aquarium-conducting-research-to-help-wild-beluga-whale-population/
  14. I'm wondering if this is what Cooper decided would appease both SCV traditionalists and the contemporary crowd?
  15. Agreed. Although with these "dance teams" rather than color guards for some units, I am still bemused by my inability to decipher if there are different types of skirt fling/fluff techniques the way there are different equipment tosses and catches, spins, and musical nuances. I thought I had my cataracts fixed last year.
  16. just a question? Were copyright licensing always enforced as strictly for smaller corps previously as it is for the World Class corps? While WC was always on the produced DCI audio products, I get the impression that Div. 2 &3 somewhat glossed that until very recently. I have no facts to back my feeling. It would be interesting to see what facts were/are. Then again, Novi and crew may be so hepped about Soundsport that...
  17. It would be most interesting to see from what unit(s) the motion on the floor generated, who the proponents were, and what reasoning was used to push it. Years back Open Class began as the merger of Div. 2 and Div. 3 corps. This motion not only knocks out Encorps and similar, but buries Div. 3 for eternity.
  18. In the years when Grand Nationals had a waiting list to participate (this year they did not as neither prelim day reached its maximum number of entries usually being a max of 50 per day,) BOA would hold off some usual units to allow new participation (particularly if the new participating unit was able to fill a lot of audience seats and hotel rooms.) Costs being what they are today for travel, hotels, and insurance that policy is not as obvious as it had been. ALSO several States have strict rules about who and what unit may travel out of State and how often; these are known as 9/11 rules due to the restrictions imposed at that time; some States have eased up since. Texas UIL has very strict rules about its bands from that State; Texas even limits the amount of rehearsal time a band may have per week. You might find this of interest as it really demands the educators to be organized, prepared, and effective. https://www.uiltexas.org/music/marching-band/eight-hour-marching-band-rule-qa
  19. see my response to that St. Louis drummer on this thread.
