Yeah, we are all busy teaching marching bands. We are planning on growing a bit again next year to maybe about 50+ members and doing a couple more competitions. We've got some pretty good music lined up, starting to recruit, and seriously getting the itch to get back out there and practice, practice, practice. Not ripping them at all. They have been and continue to be an amazingly consistant program. They have produced some of my favorite high school shows over the years. That JCS show was a sight to behold.

Do you remember when they practically had an entire theatre troop out there running probably a dozen or so wireless mikes through a mixing board for their JCS show. Sometime back around '93 or so. Now that show had a ton of electronics.

Then why is there still a disconnect. It has been noticeable, especially the past few summers, the number of dci corps that have stepped up their design and performance levels. I still feel a disconnect between what happens on the field and what is felt in the stands. I can appreciated the demand and technical mastery as well as anyone, but why do I feel that so many shows just come across as sterile?

Why would this be bad?

I voted for Larry the Cable Guy simply for the fact that I would like to hear "Get 'er Done!" yelled out at the beginning of every show.

How to save dci? Send all show designers to DCA finals.

Why add unnecessary confusion? The better question to ask is why aren't DCI div 2/3 corps judged on the same sheets as div I corps.

Somehow I just cannot see that happening, but it sure is fun to speculate.

We'll get them thinking that is our style, then we'll come out of the gate screaming with Rocky Horror Picture Show, appropriate unis and all, next summer!!!
