  1. Some Old School: 74 Anahiem Kingsmen: So Very Hard to Go/Firebird Suite, Rifle Line Curtsy was so classy! 74 Muchachos: It Was a Very Good Year/Las Picturas de Espana, Crowd was out of its mind at that point. 75 Madison Scouts: The Way We Were/Ballet in Brass, Nuff said! 75 27th Lancers: Danny Boy, any year 27 did it was always good but that year with the leap back into the top 4 plus the Company Front Pinwheel and that Rifle Line....WOW! 76 Blue Devils: Chase the Clouds Away, just a great show and Champion. 76 Phantom Regiment: Pilgrims March from Tannhauser, a sign of things to come from PR plus a great Color Pre to finish the show.
  2. Have to go with 92. Great show design and the Performance in Finals was awe inspiring. Honorable mentions for 96 and 97. Those two shows were just fun to watch and listen too. I wore out the front heel of my sneakers tapping my toes to Birdland both years!
  3. Correct! Blessed Sac folded after the 1972 Season. Blue Rock's best finish was 16th in 1974 and they folded after that season.
  4. Of the Original 13 DCI Member Corps, which Two never made Finals?
  5. I don't know if anyone would move up this year though Oregon Crusaders would be a good candidate to do so in the Future. If anything, I'd like to see someone like Pioneer move into Open Class for a couple of years. I think a move down might do them good as they seem to have really struggled the last few years in World Class. Getting beat up like that can't be any fun.
  6. Kevin, You Rock!! Thanks for the Photo! Just great coverage from you!
  7. Hey Guys, Its FINALS. Can we can the negativity for one night and just enjoy what these kids are doing? Just this one night? Please?
  8. Thank You! I will do that and if I need help I'll PM you.
  9. I just bought the Blu Ray DVDs for 2009. I play them exclusively on my Computer because I don't have a TV, by choice. My problem is that the playback seizes constantly. I have Windows 7 on my Computer (Dell Insipron 17.3). My DVD system is Cyberlink Power DVD 10. I also use Explorer. Any Ideas?
  10. As I remember it, the Title of Phantom's show was "From the New World to a New Age."
  11. I'm really hoping it's the Dies Irae. I want to see PR's Brass really cut loose on this.
  12. I remember that "Contest" What a miserable day! I don't think I ever saw worse conditions for a contest. Ever.
  13. Yeah, I want to see Hop explain the logic behind that one. Wait...there isn't any.
  14. I'll second that opinion! It was really cool listening to both treatments. I thought both arrangements were outstanding.
  15. Walter Kelley taught drill and Tony Cantaneo taught Brass for Dukes when I marched with them. Tom Swan was with Black Watch my last two years.
  16. Wow! Marc Sylvester, Jim Prime and now, Ralph Hardiman!!
  17. Santa Clara Vanguard 1984. Hands down, no other version is even close imho. My first view of that show was in Glenwood Springs that season. Got my face peeled off in the push and then let down so gently by the ppp ending. So beautiful and just haunting. Up close in that small stadium, the effect was magnified. Crowd was just in awe that night.
  18. 1. Pistol Double Shot at 11:30 mark is end of execution judging. Show length was 11:30-13:00 minutes. 2-Color Presentation was, literally presenting the US Flag. Up thru 1972 it was a required element in a Corp's show. 3-See Garfield Cadets, 1983 (I kid, I kid) It happened as show design and music became more complex. 4-Pits began to appear about 1978 with just the Tympani being grounded on the Field. Not everyone did this at first, by 1982 (?) it was written into the rules. 5-G bugles. When I marched, they were a two valve instrument, horizontal piston valve, rotary valve, starting in 1977 two piston vertical valve. 6-Horn line size in what was then Open Class was probably around 60-68. There were smaller lines that I remember. Smallest one I ever saw was Freelancers in 1976 when they made finals the first time. I think I counted 44 Brass. 7-Show design was simpler and the design of the instruments, especially brass really allowed for it. As for Percussion, they basically marched up and down the middle of the field in formation and "parked it" for the Perc. Feature. Hope this helps.
