  1. Fran, you are so right about the corps. I've been around them all winter and spring. You could not a better group to be around. I'm very proud of them and they will be the nucleus of the next great Sunrisers corps.
  2. Jay, I had the honor of being under the tuledge of your father at the Wanderers, and I'm sure you were every bit the director he was. Enjoy your retirement, drum corps will miss you.
  3. Congrats to all. There is however a piece of the puzzle missing. I of course mean the Skyliners. I understand that were getting it together. DCA is just not the same without them. Hope to see them soon.
  4. Andyroo, you are right on the money. I have been going to shows since '61 and the shows in DCA and DCI are not entertaing. Some corps do a good job, but most don't.

We seem to have lost our way. I listern to the corps from the'50s, '60s, and the '70s and I am entertained. That's why the alumni corps are so popular.

  5. No you are not crazy. I had already decided to boyctt the G-8 (Greedy Eight) shows this year. The only thing that has been a constant through the years has been their uniforms. And now that's gone.
  6. Now that's music! It's about time corps reached back and play some of the music not only from the past but music that we know. Looking forward to seeing you already.
  7. You're so right Frank. I saw her for the first time at the Sunrisers open house, and she was working the guard hard. Anyone who comes under her tuledge will be lucky.
  8. Ah yes! The Princemen. Very entertaining also.
  9. I have always been partial to cadet style uniforms. You know, St. Kevins, Garfield, St. Catherine's Queensmen. Our Lady of Loretto, Sunrises, Brigadiers, and Skyliners to name a few. You get the general idea. Drum corps uniforms.
  10. Yes to # 1 and No to # 2. Are the Yankees ruining baseball? The teams whose ballparks are filled when they are normally not. Every body wants to see the Buccs. They sell tickets.
  11. I have to go with the following East 27th Lancers, St. Kevins Midwest Racine Kiltes, Chicago Royal Airs West Velvet Knights, Anaheim Kingsmen South Spirit of Atlanta
  12. As a alumni I am very disappointed, however I know the admin has done everything in its power to make it happen. There is a rehearsal for today as posted on the Sunrisers sight. I will continue to support the corps in any why I can.
  13. I am very saddened to hear about his passing. Barry was a great guy and a great loss to drum cops. Rest in Peace.
  14. Late to this thread as I was late to drum corps. I saw my first contest in 1961 at the ripe old age of 21. Join a parade corps in July from Floral Park, LI. From there to the Wanderers of New Rochelle, NY.in 1963. Went back in '66 after two years in the Army. In '67 I joined the Sunrisers. I mssed the whole 50's scene. Like the VFW Nationals in Ebbets Field in'56.
  15. So true, so true, it was a great article. I marched with a lot of those guys myself, and saw the video. They of course brought honor to the Sunrisers. You'll excuse me now, while I kick myself in the behind, also for not being there.
  16. John So sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. My prayers go out to you and your family. Bill Stalzer
  17. When they posted most the corps music for this year, I really like the Hurricanes show. I'm partial to music I recognize. Just old fashion. Love those alumni corps.
  18. I'm sure that everybody that drives will enjoy the parking. And some people that took the #190 bus to Clifton will have to find another way.
  19. Great to see back on the field. You were missed. Have a great year.
  20. This show has become the Dream Show of the past. When you went to the Dream, you saw people you haven't seen since the last one. Looking forward to seeing old friends again. Oh yeah, some good drum corps too.
  21. Isn't it amazing? No matter how things change, things still remain the same. If you knew who the judges were you might have been perfect.
