  1. Because of logistical requirements ,corps have to perform and then leave the field in a fixed amount of time..This often truncates the amount of time the audience can fully show their appreciation...During the season prior to finals, this makes perfect sense because of the touring requirements each corps has committed to..So, my question is: At finals, are the performers allowed a few extra seconds to soak in the love they get after their final show, particularly if they've had a great run that evening that the audience rewards with thunderous applause?...Or....must they get off the field ASAP like normal ?..Presumably, the judges have finished their critiques. So would an extra 30 seconds allotted for the mm's to bask in the warmth of fan appreciation be a problem?..If it was my final performance, I think seeing the crowd going wild as I stand there soaking it all in, would be a fitting ending to my drum corps experience..If this IS allowed, then as Roseanne Roseannadonna quoted: " NEVERMIND"
  2. Congratulations on a successful season , and surviving the physical demands brought on by the changing CLIMATE lol..But seriously, yesterday was my first live show since the covid exhibition year and I realized that, for all it's flaws, FLO ain't that bad this year...Not that sitting in an aging stadium with HEAVY air affecing the sound, wasn't fun...I want to hear the playback of Saturday's show to see if their mics picked up the sounds I couldn't hear...Even the announcer wasn't audible. Safe to say, that getting back among dci fandom was great..However, I think my next outdoor venue will be INDOORS..GO CADETS!!!!!...Keep RISING!
  3. When I got up this morning I'd forgotten that the Cadets had a show on Wednesday(no FLO)..So I go to my laptop to check the scoring ratings and I see Cadets in fourth...rubbing my eyes, thinking I must have seen a mistake, I then go to the scores compiled on Wed. and I see the Glassboro show..That's when it dawned on me that that must be the show the 92.3 came from..Blew me away!...My expectations for the Cadets this season have now been realized..And those expectations were that Cadets would once again be a crowd pleaser and competitive..I will not go on a rant about who they should or could beat at finals, because this morning, while drinking my coffee, all that matters is that the Cadets are RISING....And I'm O K with that..peace
  4. Congrats on breaking the ninety barrier...You and PR at (90.9) and Mandarins close by at (90.45)...This makes the next 10 days or so, very interesting competitively..Keep up the good work(feet, feet, feet) and blow the freaking house down this weekend..peace
  5. I got lost trying to respond ..But the docks are now INDUSTRY CITY...Condos, shopping and the N.Y.NETS training facility..Rocco's is no longer and drum corps in NYC is a distant memory...BTW , did you guys ever use Randalls Island for practice?

  6. Denver John: We are in that enviable group of Brooklyn drum corps alumni...From your resume, in the sixties we were just a few blocks apart...St Rocco's and St. Rita's were my junior corps..Rocco's was literally within walking distance of OLC and OLPH.. Hope all is well...peace
  7. As one with high pressure I hope you're going to feel healthier after you see the doc....peace
  8. I had some trepidation about Cadets going on first after intermission, but the way that crowd responded to that first hit, told me that it was their night...As a matter of opinion, I think Cadets received a lot of audience love...more than in recent years...They may not win a title this year(safe bet) but winning the audience again is the Cadets I grew to admire since 1982..BTW they kicked ### last night with an ending only done a few times..Clean, clean, clean and see ya in A town.. peace
  9. The kids looked real good..congrats on the additions
  10. Just want to say that I love the ballad...beautiful chords and chord progression..peace
  11. Do the Cadets implement the alleged drill changes this weekend or sometime closer to finals
  12. I'm a sucker for Pat Metheny music, so their of rendition of Minuano, blows me away!..That said, the rest of the show does not disappoint..Their energy and proficiency make them my all time favorite Colts corps..Keep rising all the way to finals..peace
  13. i just realized that the Cadets were only 2 plus points behind Bluecoats based on the weekly high scores..It's been a while since they were this close, right?
  14. Congrats on your 2nd place finish...Your scores keep rising this year with every show(I think) ..So, onward and upward..peace
  15. Just glad to see the Cadets getting some love..Mandarins are going to be around for a while and deservedly so...They are one of my favorites...The Cadets, Mandarins and PR have provided a second tier competition that is more interesting than the big 4...Not that they are better, just that BD is already undefeated and appear to be on course to win AGAIN!..So that said, I thank PR,Mandarins and Cadets for providing the drama good drum relishes..peace
  16. The optimist in me says: " The 2nd tier is starting this run practically dead even"...Cadets percussion in taking 4th, is very encouraging...I still feel that there is more room for growth in this program..Some of the changes have already been mentioned and I look forward to next week to see if they'll be implemented..The pessimist in me says: " If PR and Mandarins GE scores stay higher( better use of props etc.) then it's a wrap..Cadets energy seemed a bit down last night..maybe it's me but, this show in it's current presentation NEEDS the energy to be high due to the extended percussion features and prop movement..When the brass is engaged, it's like coming home to a warm bath...Fortunately, I am the optimist, and the scores are rising with each performance, so carry on Cadets!...peace
  17. The Cadets show reminds me of how I felt in 1982, when they announced in no uncertain terms that they had arrived...The rest is history..And even if BD three peats, it in no way diminishes that classic run of Cadets...Good music, good drill, and what looks to be happy members...The east is well represented with BC,Crown and again the CADETS..BTW, can the drum major SMILE a bit longer at the intro?.She sometimes looks underwhelmed..boost that GE score!...LOL
  18. Congrats on win in Austin...Now in fifth place..keep pushing Cadets, your show is getting better each time I see it..peace
  19. I finally saw all the GARFIELD references...This is just, as someone said, my favorite program since 2015..Good luck in Austin!.....peace
  20. My only request of FLO is to schedule rebroadcasts, not just the next day, but also at a time more reasonable for east coast viewers..At least during the week...The west coast shows start late for us easterners and so do the rebroadcasts...So if anyone at FLO is listening, help this dinosaur survive the summer..peace
  21. Reading the posts on corps not the Cadets, I must say that the Cadets are in an enviable position as we enter the meat and potatoes of the schedule...I say this because the drama associated with the Cadets, doesn't seem to be evident..The uniform issue is moot and their scores are rising with each performance...This bodes well for the remainder of the season and for future Cadet recruitment..With a sincere appeal to alums, it appears that the Cadets are trying to do the right thing while remaining competitive..I'm not around the corps everyday so my observation may seem naive, but it feels good to see a Cadet show I can be proud of....peace
