  1. Had my four children within 8 years ..my two daughters love drum corps.my sons, not so much...Both daughters channeled their love of the arts as children into Opera and Dance respectfully ..When I asked them the origin of their love of performing, they point to a drum corps show in Allentown PA., circa 1998. where they were mesmerized by the performers , doing impossible things on a football field..When I informed them of how difficult it was to accomplish those feats, they realized the commitment they had to make to become professionals..24 years later, They're performing in their respective disciplines and we still make Allentown our annual reunion..Ironically, my granddaughters from one of my sons, caught the Atlanta regional in 2019 at my suggestion, and they loved it!..So another fan base was started..Who knows, maybe they'll march one day.
  2. Good remake of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS...Seat stealers should have their bodies snatched like aliens took Donald Sutherland's.
  3. Congrats on returning to Drum Corps nobility...you've made this comeback season a joy to behold..good luck in INDY...peace
  4. Just want to say that with all the emphasis on drill vs. body movement, the Cadets have done a fantastic job of utilizing both to their advantage...These members are dancing their ##### off and at the most unexpected moments..The drill portion is straight up Cadets...nobody does it better(well BD is world champ so I take liberty)..With the exception of a couple transitions (you know where and when), they made me forget 2019 and indeed put it ,in the here it comes:REAR VIEW MIRROR....peace
  5. Mr. Dixon: Are the Cadets planning on adding new material prior to finals?
  6. I had the same feeling..Though I love Bocook's arrangement of Herbie Hancock's interpretation, this and Sing,Sing,Sing both pre date the 50's...Brubeck, Miles, Kenton, Monk etc. would probably have added to the vibe a bit more..Along with everyone wearing dark sun glasses. lol
  7. No. No. and No again! Because every time I pitch a concept on here, the Blue Devils steal it!..So either PAY me or live without my next great idea..😁
  8. Great job yesterday .Score in music analysis over Coats is impressive..definitely headed in a positive direction..See you this weekend..Peace
  9. As a financial incentive for the marching members: Would a reduction in fees for each year of retention with the same corps be a factor..Full fee for the first year and then every year after a percentage reduction for their participation?..Just throwing it out there..maybe it already happens.. maybe $ is not the issue but rather some other issue..With fees at an estimated 5k in some world class corps, a reduction of perhaps 10% per year might help.Plus, the mm's could use the extra savings to buy stuff while on tour..I know that paying for quality instruction costs, but after that, as an incentive, consider the above..Peace
  10. All pre D.C.I.....3 1/2 years junior drum corps then 3 1/2 years senior drum corps...1964-1970..My junior corps folded mid season so I moved on to senior corps to finish the season and my marching career..Peace
  11. Happy to see the Cadets with days off from competition...With more quality rest in the midst of a heat wave, their physical recovery is a good SCORE in and of itself..Peace
  12. Congratulations on your placement at the San Antonio show...You've given your fans a reason to cheer loudly again. The move to upstage right during the ballad and ending on the big chord leaves me weak. Wherever you place the rest of the season, know that I'm proud of you. Peace
  13. The DJ is probably a J Dilla (James Yancey) acolyte...Master of Beats...changed the game forever..peace
  14. Horns played ALOT of music.....Hawthorne always had guys with great chops but I didn't recall how much they played!...No knock on today's brass players but the old guys played more music IIRC..Thanks for Hawthorne post
  15. This is when senior corps were the stars of drum corps in the east...My junior corps(St. Rocco's) were pretty good beating Garfield in 1966(twice) but joining The Sky in 67 meant that I was now a MAN..LOL..peace
  16. Congratulations on your win...You guys have made steady progress and should be in great shape for finals.. good luck!
  17. My favorite show to watch and my favorite show to march in...Skyliners 1967 thru 1970
  18. I've only seen the Bluecoats once (without interruption) thanks to FLO...My question is " Are they covering the same period in time with their production as are the Cadets? 1950's to 1960's?
  19. This from a Cadet fan of many, many years: Your corps is outstanding in every caption...I've put aside my fandom to applaud BAC and the show they have this year...Good drum corps is good drum corps! Peace
  20. Given some of the BAD behavior in D.C.I. corps recently, I think Spike Lee's "Do the right thing" might be timely and appropriate..Of course I jest, but the music in this movie is amazing!!....Can you see a company front blasting "Fight the power" while folding into a peace sign?....lol....I'd love it...peace
  21. FLO sucks!!!....Re-plays are a joke..For the money I'm paying I should at least expect a flawless production..And as someone stated earlier, the re-play should NOT be worse than the original broadcast..peace
