  1. I almost totally agree with your post. Crown and Cadets look isolated. SCV is pretty safe at #1. 50/50 for Cavaliers and Boston. I would say closer to 60/40 for BD because they have won more head to head and the odds seem to always be in their favor
  2. Genesis jumps over OC. Tight between 19-21. Can't wait to see them all at semifinals. Hopefully all 3 make it.
  3. Pretty awesome. Powerful. I know the hangover is for GE at the beginning of the clip...but no...cringeworthy...to me at least. Personal preference.
  4. Great job Bloo! Oh so close to BD...is this the year BD gets a bronze? Hasn't happened since 2006. 3rd in a lot of captions but top brass is really close. 5th in percussion but within .1 of BD and .05 of Boston so much closer to the competition.
  5. Didn't realize Tennessee is a split time zone state. I knew of Indiana because of suburban Chicago. I have been to the Smokies 3 times and that part of the state is EST.
  6. Surprised to see this isn't a TOC show. Or is it? One of the best lineups this season. The top 8 + Music City...and I love music City.
  7. Thanks for posting! I was thinking about this myself last night! Then I was thinking is it more valuable to be seeded 15, get the BLL slot then actually place 16 at semifinals...or be seeded 16, miss BLL but place 15th overall? All 3 of these groups rarely miss BLL...and I don't see SOA, the Academy, or another corps dropping to let 2 of these corps in... let's see...Troop was a little further back in SA so I will say... Colts make BLL but Scouts ultimately place 15th
  8. Sat front and center in Massillon last year... my husband (who was a member of a DCI finalist corps in 01) said "wow...I don't think our show would have made the top 15 this year" I agree- the level of musicianship and athleticism has gotten ridiculously good...and the variety of show styles keeps it interesting too. This might also be the first year where I like all of the top 6 shows...there is usually 1 that I don't like at all and 1 or 2 more that I am lukewarm about. That being said there isn't really a show that captures my heart or that I am obsessed with yet... I am sure that will change by finals week when I see them live (loved Bloo the whole season but it was Boston who stole my heart in Massillon last year). I am still meh on the costumes and generally not a fan of singing though...there are oh...1 or 2 shows ever that I think singing has added to the product.
  9. Haha yes! We usually go but it's a matter of lining up a sitter for my 2 yr old. Plus scattered thunderstorms.
  10. Hey Tony! I am in the same boat. Might get tickets to the Massillon show but have tickets for Semifinals. I wouldn't consider myself a great reviewer...but I wrote on both last year. Lucky enough to live between Pittsburgh and Cleveland so we get some of the first shows and some of the last shows... but I never make it out early season.
  11. Well at least Bloo is ahead of the Mandarins in Percussion. Right? No disrespect to the Mandarins... haven't seen em yet this year but loved them last year. Big congratulations to SOA. Keep pushing! Very competitive year this year but last year 12th finished with 85.25
  12. Doesn't it require missing 3 consecutive shows to get a hot dog?
  13. Good question... either really. ..also I think Cavies 02 was an extension of and more of a work towards perfection of the formula they were already using in 00 and 01 for sure. I was being exclusionary with only including title winning shows from the last 10 years but there is probably substantial argument that Cadets 07 was as much of a game changer as Bloo 16.
  14. This is true as a lot of great moments ate added to shows at the end of the season or even finals night
  15. That's why I am using the exclusionary criteria as legendary title winning shows. Tilt and Inferno were amazing. HMs for Kinetic Noise and Mad World...
  16. I was only listing title winning...and that's my exact issue with Crown 13...it is a benchmark because it is crowns first title show...but 09,12, and 15 (debate for 08 and 16 too) were great programs that hold just as much weight if not for the title.
  17. 07 was a great competition year...but nah I don't listen or watch the shows often.
  18. Nah I like to have fun and speculate way too early.
  19. The title winning shows from the past 10 years that I consider to be legendary are Spartacus- Phantoms first solo championship... such a story of how it got there...such a powerful aggressive show. BD 2014- freakishly high scoring and ran away with the championship from day one. The best show the judges have seen yet. (FWIW I prefer BD 09 and 17 by a landslide over this but it's personal preference) Bluecoats 16- it was just so different from anything else yet. Now no top 12 corps has traditional uniforms and the 3d/4d thing and music tech has gotten so much more prevelent. I think SCV is the best on the field this year but I don't know if this is quite as legendary.
  20. Things are looking really good for SCV this year. If Babylon wins the title- how will it be looked back on in Drum Corps history? Is it a legendary show?
  21. Looks like the blue stars exec director read the post and tried to reach out. Physical abuse and berating people is not cool.
  22. Definitely. They should win in Erie PA too...which will be a great kick off to finals week for them...as it is running parallel to TOC Massillon. The 17 Cadets were I believe 6th in Masillon while BK won the Erie show. Also fans love the Cadets and it might help draw a bigger crowd.
