  1. I know. I was delirious in the middle of the night with jet lag and Benadryl.
  2. I worry about these uniforms. With everything we've seen on everything else it looks to me like they are going to look old phansioned? Did you feel that seeing them from the stands?
  3. Middle of the night delirious-ness. I already knew these were Cavies and I love them.
  4. I know they did, but it was an average of three nights, so SCV won guard in 2017.
  5. I think it will be either BD or SCV. IMO, they are just in a league of their own in terms of design. I feel SCV caught up to BD in the design game last year, and their 1st in guard and percussion, and 3rd in brass was huge. They are a click away from a title. Will be fun watching these two dog it out, if what I suspect is correct, but we will see.
  6. Me either. Only reports from a couple of people that have seen their rehearsal. They both say they have out done last year. We shall see.
  7. I saw that the other day. So cool. I can't wait to see their uniforms/costumes this year. Only a few more days.
  8. No, but I did the day before the first camp. I had to fight my parents on it. I wonder where the OPs son would have marched.

  10. They've been so tight-lipped about everything this year. Even my friends are alums haven't heard diddly. They are literally the only top 12 corps I haven't heard one thing about.
  11. Yeah, probably not, but the 2001 Cadets show sure was fun. Do you regret it? I do during the first week of the season, but then not so much, then at finals week. It is just so tough in between.
  12. The opening of this show is just so beautiful, but then it loses it for me shortly there after. Brass sounds really good. Should be a good season for them.
  13. I just watched their concert video, and holy smokes. Wow. This is definitely the best I've ever heard from them at this stage. Would be so exciting if they jumped up into the top 3 or top 4.
  14. That's how someone who is losing an argument responds. Goodbye, indeed.
  15. Yeah, I too decided to not march my last two years, after marching 6. I was burnt out. Usually, I am in tears when I see a first show with regret, but there were good things that came out of not marching too. I had two really fun summers not working my butt off. I think when you're 20 or 21 it seems like you have all the time in the world and you don't realize that no, you don't. I don't know what I would do if God said, "we can go back in time and undo it." I just don't know.
  16. I have no doubt there are more males, but I don't have statistics to say how many more males.
  17. Between 1972 and 1997, Madison has 2 titles, 15 top five finishes, and 5 top 3 finishes. Between 2005 and today, Bluecoats have 1 title, 7 top five finishes, and 4 top 3 finishes. So, I don't see how relevant Bluecoats are to this discussion when trying to refute my point, considering for the past 12 years (and they're sure to make it 13 this year) they have been extremely more successful than Madison from a competitive standpoint. Madison's competitive troubles started in 2000 and they have never fully recovered. They've given us a few glimmers of hope (2005, 2010-2013, 2015) but those successes were always meant with set backs. The bottom line is when you are corps struggling to make finals, you should not be excluding 1/2 the talent pool. Cavaliers can afford to do so, Madison cannot. Period. End of. Back in 2003 I heard people, say, "thank God, Madison is back in the top 8." Last year, it was, "Thank God, Madison is back in finals." Really? That's where we're at? Can you honestly say, as an alumni, that missing finals or being a 12th place corps is ok with you?
  18. I agree. However, I think if Madison, or Boston for that matter had the same design as BD, BD would still beat them. I think today design > execution, but when design = design, execution wins.
  19. You are so funny. BK is my favorite uniform I have seen thus far.
  20. Ok, maybe I would be bummed. But I didn't march where I marched for the uniform. I'm not happy with all the changes in DCI, but the new uniforms is one of them. To me, hornlines dancing and prancing around the field looked cheesy with helmets and other head wear. Bluecoats 2016 worked so well because the uniforms of the hornline were really conducive to visual movement.
  21. Personally, I like the direction DCI is headed with regards to uniforms. Of course, I will miss classic uniforms like the Cadets maroon unis, but body movement looks so much better, and less hokey, with this new uniform type than it does with helmets on heads.
  22. I agree that weighing the level of talent is subjective, but BAC barely made finals in 2016 and Cadets were 6th (and in gold medal contention one year prior) so unless BAC had almost an entirely new membership in 2017, I don't see how they could have been as talented as the Cadets. But, you're right, there's really no way to weigh that. Whether or not they had the same talent level, less, or more, they certainly had the superior design (on all levels), so that was really the boost to beating the Cadets last year.
