I think designs are better, however, no one will be better than Zingali or Brubaker! I don't think technique is better than the past. Ever watch any corps in a parade? Guard doesn't even know how to keep in step and do they hold a flag pole in a parade anymore? The idea of military bearing has gone extinct, and I understand the change in the activity, but it is definitely missed. With that....flail away!

Judging was different due to the tic system. Scores would jump around so much you didn't know if you were getting a fair shot. When you get the chance, look at scores for two shows on the same day with almost the same corps. 1972 we got beat by a lot of NY corps but when we went to The US Open....we beat some of those corps that beat us in NY. Now I know why we started to compete more in Ontario, Canada. I remember our last show in Canada (in London, ONT) and we almost took high horns. Finally (1976) at the NT Open we won Class A against Peterborough Krescendos and Simplex Minutemen. I guess no one will say that judging was rigged or fixed back then or even today. You would hope there was integrity but then, you never know. I look at placement from show to show today and I can tell who will win or what place they will take a month before Finals. Yes there may be one or two changes but they are usually consistent. When I marched DCA years ago, I knew scores would go up about 4 points each week. The corps didn't change places. I think I saw a score from 1973 or 1974 where we went from a 36 on a Saturday show to a 44 the very next day. I am fairly certain we didn't make changes between shows and probably only got a short amount of rehearsal time before the afternoon Sunday. hmmmmm Just a little somethin' somethin' to complain about LOL

When was the last surprise finish at DCI? Seems to me things are set 2 weeks before finals (or sooner) and it's about raising the numbers each contest so that by championships the winner will be around a 98.

Is Waterboarding an option? Asking for a friend I'll probably get in trouble for that!

....corps will compete at DCI Championships (as of today)? In both Classes? Is there even enough to have prelims, quarter, semi?

Favorite? Two Highmark/Ralph Wilson/Rich Stadium Buffalo, NY and U of P in Philadelphia Least? Montreal without question

I can picture a corps (or more) on the road and all of a sudden, as diesel prices continue to climb, corps can't afford fuel and parents are called to come and get their kid. It could , and probably will, happen this summer. I hope they have the finances.

Would be nice to be able to hear me and my corps from the 70's once again before it's to late! For those that were in top 12 corps, you can find recordings but for those of us in A Class land it's hard. Yes my corps is on two or three but the two I want are 1975 and 1976. I know 76 is out there because Ken sent me a cassette almost 40 years ago when I was in the Army. Sadly those cassette's deteriorated and are lost

So Buffalo wouldn't be a great place for DCI anymore? Ok

Brought this up a few times but..... How can one get a copy of recordings of their corps from the above era? I know DCI has the Ken Kobold collection and probably others. I would like, before I leave this Earth, to once again hear my corps shows for old times sake. Royal Coachmen 1971-76, Renegades (NY) 1982 and Rochester Patriots 1985 - 88. Anyone? Thanks!

Buffalo, especially downtown, is better today! I live in Jacksonville and UGH! I'd rather be in Buffalo (or Rochester for my Rochester friends - commercial used in the late 70's/early 80's). Yeh US side of Niagara Falls is way better but you only go to watch the water go over the edge and then you leave.

When will it return AND any chance after the new stadium is built we'll see DCI World Championships there?

It's the "Soup du jour" and although no one wants it to be political....it is because that's what the country is about today. The soup of the day will change. In education, every 10 years, someone comes out with something new and all the school districts rush out to get it. If change needs to be made in DC then Cavaliers need to open up to women! Now I am old school (started marching in the 1970's). Today the discussion is Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Safety. 10 years from now what will be the problem with DC?

The stands in 1972 were much higher if I remember correctly
