I knew from the beginning when it was announced that The Cadets were moving to Erie it was going to be good for the corps AND for Erie. I think you would be better trying to get DCI to plan later season shows for the Open class corps that don't want/can't afford to in a specific year to travel to Indy. I actually don't see that as a bad thing and think it would be good for both DCI and the Open Class corps to explore that option.

Well follow the money. Why can’t they provide audit statements? The same reason they magically were in financial trouble. Incompetence in management. As it appears, the people on staff for VMAPA in that 2019-2021 time period did not know how to properly account for their transactions leaving incomplete, inaccurate books. You can’t perform an audit *or pass* an audit with incomplete inaccurate books. And since proper record keeping wasn’t done, it’s not easy now to go back and try to put it together to get an audit done. A lot of what I’m saying is speculative in nature, but I possibly cannot see any other logical reason to 1) not have an audit done (I used to be a tax preparer for many many non profit organizations. I was always informed of/involved with audits of non profits) 2) suddenly being in financially dire positions when you have a successful 3+ million dollar bingo operation.

Depends on how much pull Gaines has. They went bent leg as soon as he joined.

I said this all along. Madison could still be Madison even with no longer be all male and in fact I’m sure the other genders that audition were wanting to go to Madison to be that “style” of entertaining, innovative, loud and in your face. But the design just didn’t quite get them there this past year.

You can’t say it doesn’t grow drum corps either. Guardians were successful in making the jump due to money and membership. There’s other groups out there that are still working on building that, if it’s their goal to make the jump. There are other groups where it is not the goal to make the jump and that’s okay.

It’s the point that you could see soundsport groups making a jump to all age and become competitive. You could see all age groups that don’t necessarily want to travel officially send small groups to be soundsport participants. And sending any type of small group could build interest and allow them to travel officially if funding becomes stable. The greater point is that it opens the door for many possibilities while still keeping a platform available for all age.

Was having a discussion with a friend of mine that participated in a group at DCA this weekend. He felt this combination is a great idea and you may start to see some Soundsport teams moving up to the new “All age” class. We both felt that this is an opportunity for Soundsport and the All age to feed off each other and could bring more groups into the arena.

Sounds more like a Madison flop versus a BD show. But maybe. However I think BD would do this from a source material standpoint, but disguised as an abstract show concept that wasn’t literally about the history of jazz.

Looks like I missed out on this discussion but I’m a big supporter of BD doing Sweeney Todd. Mix of source material from the musical and BD doing what BD does best by pulling in other random crap. I think it would be epic and only their hornline has that stark sound to create the perfect soundscape for a show like this

Silent film era with some material from Sunset Boulevard the musical would be best. I still stand by BD needing to do a Sweeney Todd themed show

I would suspect maybe Soundsport gets moved to Wednesday? Maybe they do just say screw it and have them both at the same time. I mean heck more people in downtown is the city’s goal for keeping DCI around.

I mean honestly at the rate it’s going VMAPA gots to go. Time to blow it up and start again.
