  1. I guessing it is from Boston Area Corps. Just guessing.
  2. 15 moveable field markers - for when you don't have hashes. ^0^
  3. And those of us with children not old enough to march yet.
  4. Sorry to hear about this. Going on tour is kind of like flying - don't pack anything you are not prepared to lose. <**>
  5. Yeah, got burned on that "convenience" thing too with the Indy show. I guess I had to pay for the covenience of printing off my own e-tickets on my color printer. Oh, booking ahead is a good thing. The Indy show this year was on the same weekend as the Brickyard 400 and finding a hotel room was both near impossible and very expensive.
  6. Here's a suggestion for worst drum ever: Vistalite. For those that don't know they were colored, transparent, and I believe made of acrylic.
  7. Great post. Thanks for all you did. Welcome back. Alan. "Applaud all, 'dis none."
  8. "You know, I have one simple request. And that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads!" Dr. Evil.
  9. Anyone marching A60 in 1991 prelims in Buffalo knows a thing or two about marching in the rain.
  10. OK now I know I'm on acid 'cause I think someone just mentioned the Banana Splits. One banana, two banana, three banana, four. Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more. Na, na, nah, na-na-na-nah
  11. I'm a long time, hard corps, fan of SCV so please take the following as completely biased. I was at finals for both 1988 and 1989. SCV should have taken the 1988 show. When it was annnounced that the scouts had won you literally could have heared a pin drop. Nothing agaisnt the scouts here OK. For me, I prefer SCV 88 over 89. I also think PR should have taken the title in 89. UPSIDE: Gosh darn it, PR have an awesome show. DOWNSIDE: Gosh darn it, I don't get to see SCV this year Hey, not dissin anyone. Just a fan with an opinion.
  12. Ooops, I meant Flower Duet. But doesn't floral sound so much nicer?
  13. Phantom's Floral Duet. It's haunting, and the soloists at the RCA dome were just awesome.
  14. Yep, your'e correct. I guess it's a culture thing with drum corps. A marching band is free to experiment with anything because it's a marching band and it is expected. As a group, us corps heads, we are far less forgiving. Remember how corps was dead when we gave up the buglgle?
  15. You make some good points. I think jaw dropping shows are in the eye of the beholder. After going to Indianapolis I must admit the Cavies kind of left me cold. They had a great show and performed the heck out of it. But, I also admit that over the last decade my expectations have grown greater and greater. It seems that there is always a continuous movement of change and innovation but every now and then there also huge leaps (Garfield's Z-pull comes to mind). It's my theory of punctuated equilibrium in the world of corps. Something else to consider is that top BOA instructors/directors are also teaching corps.
  16. Here's a shout out to all those Blue Star alumni that marched the 80's & 90's and ensured the corps' survival. The drum corps community and current Blue Star members owe you a huge debt of grattitude. Applaud all, 'dis none, Alan.
  17. I subscribed to the Alamodome webcast. I have a 14" widescreen macbook. The image on my screen was about 3" accross. Could I have done something to enlarge this or even make it full screen? If the approximately 3" image was the best that anyone got I feel that we got ripped off. My family spends hundreds of dollars and many, many hours in going to shows every year so it's not like we're cheapskates. Just asking and not grinding the axe just yet. Hey, saw the Blue Stars in Dubuque tonight. Welcome back into the top 12 rankings! They seem to be on the cusp of a quantum leap in performance. The Colts just keep getting better year after year- Kudos! Applaud all, 'dis none, Alan.
