  1. I didn't even realize that he was no longer listed on the visual staff.
  2. Then you were there when they had that incredible bounce back in '87. That must have been quite a summer!
  3. They have three rehearsal days starting tomorrow so maybe it will happen then. It was mentioned in that other thread that Bob Smith is going to be working with them for the next two weeks so there will definitely be improvements in visual. I hope they clean up the section at the beginning of American in Paris. The outer block forms surrounding the circle of tubas are not that defined as the form rotates to the left hand side of the field. As it looks like narration is here to stay, I hope they find a way to incorporate the last piece of music - there is no narration during that section.
  4. You certainly are so full of suggestions and questions. First you say that corps members should question everything, then you ask who read "Dante's Inferno" and then you are asking me if I have any show change suggestions.
  5. To find a video when Elaine finally meets Vincent. There don't seem to be any available online.
  6. Myself as well. The pre-season recording was absolutely wonderful but by the end of the season I lost interest. I liked '99 more.
  7. I don't think there were many people at all who thought Phantom actually had a chance based on their history up to that point in 2008. Yes, they tied in 1996 but they had never won outright up until then - hence the enormous crowd response when they were announced as the winners.
  8. LOL!! Vincent the video store clerk from that Seinfeld episode? (Elaine is infatuated with him till she goes to his apartment and meets his mother).
  9. I just don't see it. I think Cavies have a better show. If the guard can improve their performance I think they will start to pull farther away from Phantom. If Cavies had the guard they had last year I think they would be very close to BK.
  10. I hope he uses Weekend in New England as a ballad........
  11. It was well done. It helped get them back into finals.
  12. I always thought Bob Dylan was singing "The Ants are my friends" when he sang Blowing in the Wind.
  13. I believe the donut reference was referring to the Bork speak in Cadets 2005.
  14. I think Cavies changed one in 1990 (I think it has been mentioned on here prior although up until then I had no idea). Vanguard changed one in 1980.
  15. After they changed their guard uniforms in 2010 the guard scores went up (the Toy Soldier show). The original uniforms were just like the corps. The new uniforms were those bright purple tops with burgundy pants. With the change the guard suddenly stood out from the corps and it reflected in the scores.
  16. I don't know. All I do know is the effect is like fitting a square peg into a round hole
  17. I hope they remove the Frank Sinatra sample. IMO it doesn't fit while the narration can be improved upon. The corps pace is quick during that portion of the show with quickly evolving drill. Suddenly you have this overlay of a lounge-singing style that just does not blend with anything going on.
  18. It looks like the tightened interval drill is becoming their identity. It is unique to them at the moment. It actually reminds me of the Garfield Cadets after Zingali joined and they introduced their new drill style. The intervals were tight as well but up to that point nothing like it had been seen and there was nothing to compare it to.
  19. It doesn't fit at all. It sounds like it was thrown in as an after thought. Maybe it's because of what the judges are saying as you indicated above.
  20. The narration and samples of singing they threw in don't help.
  21. Some of the online collective is like Hugh of Borg. The rest.....
