  1. AMEN! Especially the first two sentences. Props to crayola. Always be aware. Don't say it, DO it.
  2. 97 bones. HM: 99 Scouts (looooove this show! First scout show I ever saw. love it.) 92 Crossmen 96 Scouts
  3. yes, and it's made me sad. but things change, so....eh....I'll treasure the memories I have of AOC
  4. I'd have to say 7th place is a tough one... I'm going to go with Bones 01. Honorable Mentions: (BK 99, 94); (Bones 90, 94, 98); (Coats 96)
  5. 91 xmen... one of my fav xmen shows. much groove.
  6. 02 Crossmen! hands down....absolutely sweet show!
  7. I don't know if anybody mentioned it...but It was 2005 I think (maybe 2004)... when a 4 year vet euph player was cut from Phantom Regiment. She just wasn't up to par apparently. At least that's what I was told by people who were involved in that corps. I've seen vets get cut from different corps just about every year. It happens if they get too lazy and don't stay on top of their stuff.
  8. I wasn't talking about Madison or Allentown. But if we're going on that subject, there are sentimental reasons I can't wait to go to Allentown again or to Madison for the first time. If you really want to know feel free to PM. Other than that, I'm sorry I don't like Indianapolis and don't find it to be on the top of my list for places I would most like to go.
  9. Yeah um....Clarification: we were talking about vets that were eligible to return.
  10. Yeah. A friend of mine who teaches there told me they had 100% return rate for mellos. Which is sad because they actually made their melloline smaller this year (ie they have more vets than spots). 2005 was a lackluster season. It will be remembered as the tragic season when the talent far outweighed the design (which wasn't all that great, IMHO). Really the only show that stuck with me was the Bluecoats show. Other than that, I can't even remember being overly interested in the shows. Well, maybe Madison. But I only remember their guard (no, not just Carmen, but the whole guard). It was interesting watching their gang fight. hehe
  11. noooooooooooooooooooooooo! not my ageout year! But in all seriousness....what's in Indianapolis? It doesn't even seem like an interesting place to go. Of course I've only ever been there for the regional, but even then... I really don't think I'd like Championships in Indy whether the roof is retractable or not. IMHO
  12. I too chuckled at the stick poking.... It provides such a great mental picture! lol
  13. I was just thinking "I wish we would do that at least once" until you said this. And now I want to make sure to stay away from rehearsing in swimming pools......forever.
  14. Basically what everyone here said.... 1) Don't let your mouthpiece bake in the sun for a long time before putting it to your mouth and your lips will be fine. 2) Condition a lot and get in shape before the season begins...and you won't hyperventilate practicing the closer for a 4 hour bock during those 110 degree afternoons in San Antonio.
  15. Go easy on the lil fella. Obviously a rookie.......overhyped. Calm down, buddy. Overhype = not good (and not well respected). Show it on the field. That's where it counts.
  16. Don't worry....when I saw it yesterday I had to write it down as well. It was hard to depict the bold letters. :)
  17. There's like a billion members from Texas. Especially from the Cedar Park area. Anyway, I don't know how much it would cost you because I don't know what part of Texas you're from. However, I believe there are a few camps that actually take place in Texas. So I think I'd estimate about maybe $1500 to fly? That's going off of the assumption there are 5 camps in Ohio you'd have to fly to. Plane ticks will most likely be in the $300 area depending on when you buy them. Good luck. Hopefully someone else can give you a more accurate depiction of the costs.
  18. I think they'd rake in some more dough though if they were to show it on a weekend. I know I would have loved to go. However, the nearest theater was 5 hours drive away! Not doable on a Thursday night when I have classes the next morning. So, personally, I'd say either make it available at more theaters or show it at a time where people can travel to see it. Surely, eventually, something like that would work out.
  19. Everything's great....but I'm absolutely (usually) in the best mood and most enjoy myself during rehearsal when it's (in order from most to least): 1) Full Ensemble 2) Sub-sectionals 3) Learning drill Yay! :-) EDIT: In order of my top three favorite rehearsals....not "most to least" favorite rehearsals. Sorry! :-)
  20. I wear mine on cold nights during the season....and rarely during the offseason...usually just at winter camps...
  21. I totally agree. In fact - I'm sure if they crack notes, they'll be cracking perfectly as well. All in jest, all in jest....it sounded funny. "Hey man...it's the Cadets." Anyway... There are many times when I've seen the visual perfectly out of sync with the music. It happens all the time on the DVDs. *revelation!* :spit: Does that mean if the Cadets "phase on purpose" and we watch the DVD it would just look as if they were perfectly in time (feet vs. music) but on an "odd" beat, thus making it look as if they decided the left foot was the way to go?!?! *GASP!* :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
  22. ???? DCI East in Allentown is one of the shows I most look forward to during the summer.
  23. so does that mean the stands will look a little empty on the night of DCI EAST?!?!
  24. The Cadets have shown some pretty awesome class as well. This past season the Cadets went to a Crossmen housing site somewhere to hang for the day and take pictures or something. Some person (not a member or anything like that) apparently yelled at and was pretty rude to the Crossmen members, putting them down and putting Cadets on a pedestal. (Which is pretty messed up considering Crossmen agreed to let the Cadets come to their housing site.) The Cadet members were horrified that this person acted that way. I believe some even apologized for it. That afternoon (or maybe evening? I don't know), when the xmen were rehearsing, some of the Cadets went to the stadium and sat in the stands to watch. They cheered and basically just supported Crossmen. That is pretty much anti-stereotypical of the Cadets. A lot of people think they are a bunch of snobs, but that right there shows me they are pretty classy, especially since it was the members that felt terrible for the way someone else treated their sister corps. They could have been doing something else like sleeping or whatever, but chose to go support Xmen. Very unselfish!
