  1. its totally on high cam. another colorguard oops...cavies 05 on high cam. end of the opener flag feature...not only were there several ticks, but there is one guy who literally throws his flag half a yardline in front of him, instead of slamming it behind him. i love finding little guard oopsies on the dvd.
  2. Phantom 08 watch the flag line in the opener as they enter. one girl spins the wrong way, another drops her flag. then at towards the end of the opener, there are about 2 sails and one girl doesnt toss her flag. i didnt notice that stuff til i watched the dvds with 08 members, who proceeded to call out the individuals and told memorable stories about how tragic those people were. i can't look at that show the same now. lol
  3. During my 4yrs as a Scout, we had to fill out Venture Scout information forms at November camp. Not filling out one was almost as bad as not paying your dues. I aged out in 2006, i'd imagine that things were still the same.
  4. So maybe i'm out of the loop or missed a posting somewhere.... what's going on with James Logan? I watched a video of their 08 show and LOVED it. Had they been at WGI, the top 3 would've been VERY tight. But anyway, are they in or out for 2009?
  5. I was there for Madison's 2003 comeback season. I was there for the 2004 Tour of Champions. I was there when the Murfreesboro show was moved to Cookeville, TN and rained out.
  6. i was a fan of wearing cotton boxers as shorts and briefs(to keep everything in place), with a wife-beater...eventually shirtless. typically, a hat...either, bucket or baseball style. i'd alternate between that and sunglasses, to minimalize the amount of tan lines...lol
  7. no Louisville show either! and the Richmond,KY show is quite small. guess its gonna be a drive to ohio or tennessee for some drum corps...
  8. PLD did the show in 2000. It was my junior year there. How do u know about us?
  9. On second thought, I'd love to see Miss Teen South Carolina march the Cadets Colorguard....April would probably eat her alive.
  10. QEII - Royal Airs or 27th Lancers Dalai Lama- Cavies (only b/c their shows are designed with much thought and there is typically a complete concept. He'd go from marching member to design staff) Michael Phelps- BD Putin- Vanguard (obviously) Tonya Harding- Cadets Walter Cronkite- Scouts Bert- VK or Colts Miss Teen USA - Crown
  11. Corn Pancakes: Pancakes...with corn in them...gross Dinner on Finals Day 2005: Ramen and Cold Cuts...i've never been more angry about food, lol.
  12. From my ageout season: Caption Head: "Anthony..are you pregnant?" Anthony: "Uhhh, no?" Caption Head: "THEN WHY ARE YOU LATE!"
  13. Two-Year/Six-Year Syndrome: someone who, in their 2nd year in the corps, feel that as a vet they can act like they have more knowledge than anybody and are more superior. 5 and 5- a flag warmup/conditioning/hell exercise that is 500 drop spins + 500 peggy spins gush and go- run to your water jug, grab a drink, then run back to your set rookie talent night- a night no one speaks of, but everybody has participate in
  14. colorguard....hands down has the best technique catches in DCI....cadets are up there too
  15. Sal was a great director and a great person. For me, it was an honor to march under him. Once he became Executive Director, his appearances diminished. He told the members that he couldn't always be there. He had other responsibilities besides making face value appearances to appease the public. We knew he cared and that he would be there for us, no matter what. In my 4 years, I can count on hand the times he wasn't there. So are you saying that public appearances are what make a director? Sal this...Boerma that...BOD this...guard staff that...brass staff that... Let it go. Whats done is done. The corps is moving on...others need to follow suit. Back to the 2008 edition of the corps..
  16. While I somewhat enjoy the constant debating about the Sal years at Madison (these 4 years I marched)... This thread SHOULD be about 2008 Scouts....please. mynwa
  17. DEFINETLY. Unlimited powerades, pulled pork sandwiches, ice cream sandwiched...yummmmmmm Oh, the memories.
  18. With rainy shows/wet fields, everything is usually the same. The staff told us to trust our technique and not change anything, for fear of creating an even more dangerous situation. Windy shows are NO fun. Enid, OK 2005, for example. That WHOLE day, we didnt toss. Wind gusts were about 50-60mph...it was ridiculous, and all we could do was laugh. By show time that night, the winds had died down considerably, but not enough to be tossing 6's and flag doubles. All high tosses were lowered, but we had to adjust to the wind by pulling back or pushing out when we released, depending on the way the wind was blowing. The occupational hazard of being in colorguard...dealing with the elements.
  19. omg. piggly wiggly day. the greatest day EVER (besides finals day). i still have my shirt. we don't have piggly wiggly's in lexington, so people are quite confused by it. from what i remember, ageouts are the only ones who get shirts.
  20. WOW. SO very good to see this improvement in scoring! Does anybody have any review of the 2008 guard? How are things looking for them? I will admit, the years that i marched in the guard were full of ups and downs. Are the boys on an upswing this season or are they just holding on?
  21. Wait. Sooo...apparently I missed the memo. What is the difference between "work" and "spinning"? Are you referring to doing consecutives and double-time as part of the rifle book? There are some double or triple-time features throughout various shows, but thats about it. Colorguard has evolved through WGI and many of the great choreographers are a part of DCI and WGI. Its inevitable that worlds will overlap. Many of us "new school" kids call what we do spinning. The TRIAD has been mentioned in several posts already, and that may be where you're getting the idea of dance w/rifle.
  22. the Cavies guard uni is great...perfect for the Samurai theme....but it reminds of the Madison 06 guard uni.
  23. 2003- red trim, dark green fleur 2004- red sequins, light green fleur 2005- green/white/silver since 2003 (my rookie year), there has been a new uni every year.
  24. yepers. though i remember something about she could put it around her shoulders ...but not put her arms in the sleeves? also, No family or friends allowed on the bus. Only CMM's, alums, and staff. That used to be the same with the gym we were sleeping in as well...not sure if that rule still exists.
  25. I've never heard of using alcohol to clean the blade. Goo Gone works to best and the shine still remains afterwards.
