Are two 99.15s even considered equal? In such a subjective activity, the value of these numbers are also subjective and have no real meaning other than "better than the other guy." I mean, if Cadets '05 and Cavies '02 competed in the same year, what are the odds of a tie? I say low.

When I watch a show, I realize that I don't have the ability to watch every element of the show and compare them across all shows, so I just let the judges do their jobs and stop worrying about it.

Drum corps is overladen with rules and sentimentality that provokes constant imitation in every way. Art is supposed to be allowed to move freely without rules and people telling you what you can and cannot do. We focus so much on these things, that whenever a rule change occurs, every corps is using it just because it is allowed. This, to me, is very gimmicky and shows how closed-minded our designers are. On the other hand, the naturalists of drum corps void a show just because it uses something they disagree with, which, to me, is also very sadly closed-minded. Yesterday, in Atlanta, I saw most of the corps doing a show without melody to drill that is nearly useless. If you have a drum corps at your disposal, why not do something special? Why not create something, rather than rehash music we've heard over and over again?

What does marching while playing have to do with anything? This seems like an attempt to rationalize why corps x is better than corps y.

I'm one of the show's naysayers primarily because I see a lacking visual design compared to the other top dogs, however, I think they've found a comfortable design in which they can become very clean and show off their good parts. The show is very mature and I like that.

1. BD - 4:9 - I still think it's theirs to lose. 2. Cavaliers - 6:5 - These two (Cadets, Cavies) are right there, but may be too far back to pull off a win. 3. Cadets - 7:5 - " 4. SCV - 10:1 - I still don't think they have the package to win, would be very surprised if they managed to win. 5. Crown - 20:1 - It'll be close between Crown and SCV but I think SCV pulls it off over Crown. Field - 99:1 - not going to happen. Did I do my odds correctly? I'm not sure if 4:9 is ever used or not, which is sad due to the number of trips to Keeneland I've made.

I really just wonder who made the design decisions and how they didn't realize that they created something so lacking for a defending-champion show.

There are a few sets where Crown is pretty dirty, but I blame that on poor drill design in certain areas of the show.

The Fan Network has made such a noticeable turn-around since earlier this season, those involved should be applauded.

Yes, I stopped at 9, but just to keep things focused. The question is fairly simple: whose show really needs that new ending to succeed late-season more than any other? Also: Who will be making the most drastic changes and... When will they be they be presented?

If it's truly for personal use, they'll never know or have any way to know. They're (probably) mostly worried about those videos getting posted on youtube or other similar sites or sold for profit.

There are ways to fix the speed, which I think would make the video much more entertaining.

I have to vote Cadets for this one. I think many of the upper-tier corps have fairly "safe" shows this summer and the Cadets are really pushing their limits in many areas. The Cadets' visual package has been cleaned greatly from early-season and they have overtaken Crown consistently for the past week.
