  1. 97, brigs and Empire. and with the new scoring system requiring 3 digits after the dot, it becomes that much harder. have there been any ties in DCA since the scoring system changed?
  2. the problem is some groups dont know how to perform without it. it becomes a crutch
  3. it can be useful. I do feel however, in the latter stages of the season you dont need it unless making big changes. some corps and staff members, honestly, dont seem to know how to take a #### without it. it's overused.
  4. you have to have enough buys to make it profitable. WWE does anywhere from 250k to a million for a pay perview. TNA, their largest competitor barely does 25k on PPV, and they had to resort to holding their PPV's in a place where they dont have to sell tickets to it, so they make a profit. DCI would get maybe 25k. In an industry such as PPV, they want a track record, and they want to know how many buys to expect. Since the cable companies get upwards of 60% of the fees, with production costs, DCI could lose their ##### trying it.
  5. isnt gonna happen, no need to worry about it. the show loses me in the middle and there is still dirt
  6. your method however is not what DCI and any competing circuit out there I have heard of does.
  7. the judges are paid to make a call. rank and rate. because the emphasis is on starting numbers so high, they run out of room and dont have anywhere to go but a tie. it's called numbers management. and I'm sorry, but there's always room to decide one has to be just that tiny bit better than the other.
  8. wanna know why i complained? more false advertising. we were promised the moon and the stars, groundbreaking stuff. we're getting the same #### done every saturday in the fall, and sometimes not even as well.
  9. yes show concepts and some of the music chosen has driven fans away. mostly older, some younger too. now some fans have been added. a great thing. there CAN be a balance. see SCV, Crown and Cadets this year, Crown and Phantom last year. those shows loved by fans of all ages ( except BD fans) but it's always been that way...some corps just dont connect, some show ideas lose people who just want to go to be entertained, not educated. it's just that it seems there is more of those corps than the ones I mentioned above. I understand programming and trying to recruit the kids. they are the future. but the legacy fans, those still here that go to many shows, inclduing finals, spend a ton on dvds and cds....those are the ones that should be retained as well as the newbies. continually having to replace them is not wise business sense. adding to them is the key
  10. hey for an encore whatever. just not on the field
  11. i'm ok with an over all tie. but a caption tie is not good
  12. with no real fight for the top spot, it seems it isnt as good as it could be
  13. yes you dont want to compete with one arm tied behind your back (jeff Feidler, 2004)
  14. except what we're getting with synths is band in a can. good band and bad band
  15. i have a friend on Colts staff. I wish him the best....... but my heart is pulling for the Troopers
  16. um, allow me to search for the proper response. oh wait here it is: wah
  17. yer right Bear...i forgot about how hot it was on that turf on Sunday
