  1. OK, OK you guys....geez....I used to do a lot of CALIFORNIA DREAMIN' when I was marching !!!
  2. In June of 1977, my sister gave me my first nephew !!!!! I went through the roof !!!
  3. No. The one found was gold coloured !!!! LOL Just kidding, there was no mouth piece found !!
  4. Was it a nice expensive silver soprano mouth piece, with engraving down the shaft ?
  5. Was it black ? They had 47 black shoes and one black running shoe !!! For some reason I don't think the running shoe was from any drum corps !!
  6. I marched in that show during the 70's. I remember one show in particular Keith. Remember the MUD SHOW ? The field was grass and was used for soccer and football. One show in 1975(?) there was a total of 48 different shoes fished out of that field the next day !!!! Thank God we used black tape on all our shows.
  7. I've NEVER heard of a penalty for falling !! If you drop your equipment and pick it up it was 1 point penalty back in the 70's anyway wasn't it ??
  8. OK, kids....here comes the boldest prediction in years !!!! 1. Santa Clara Vanguard 2. Holy Name (The Cadets) 3. Phantom Regiment 4. Blues Devils 5. Cavaliers 6. Carolina Crown 7. Bluecoats 8. Madison Scouts 9. Blue Stars 10. Blue Knights 11. Glassmen 12. Boston Crusaders Before you jump down my throat on some of the predictions, who cares right now anyway ? Everyone knows these will change, so sit back and enjoy the ride.
  9. I was going to ask that too ?? He was euphonium player I believe. Any information on him ?
  10. Most corps do check and so they should ! Don't students have to get a release from the other corps ?
  11. Why not ? Sometimes the World Class corps have been put to shame, entertainment wise, by some of the OPEN CLASS corps. Remember, World Class used to be called OPEN CLASS at one point !
  12. Dean, thanks for those kind words. We have as much respect and admiration for the Glassmen of our era as well. About 100 people came to the Dutch Boy Cadets, Reunion 2008 on Saturday October 25, 2008. Those that came, had a great time and rekinldled old friendships and recalled many happy memories. After 32, years some people looked the same, while a few had lost a little hair, put on a couple of pounds. We were together once again all be it for a few hours. There were many back slapping hugs and hand shakes. Cadets came from as far away as British Columbia and Canton Ohio. Reunions are a great way to find old friends and regain the closeness of any drum corps. We may have another reunion in the near future as well.
  13. The THIN RED LINE keeps getting thinner every day !!!
  14. In the drum corps world, if you didn't belong to DCI or go to DCI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS you were nothing, according to a lot of fans and drum corps VIPs !!
  15. On behalf of the 1976 Dutch Boy Cadets, thanks for all you did for our colour guard LINDA !!!
  16. Dean Mooney now specializes in children that don't speak or are none verbal in Vermont !!!!
  17. I'd go back to 1978, my age out year and march with Santa Clara. I had every intension on going down to try out but I couldn't afford it. If you notice, they had a contra hole in 1978 finals. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME !!!!
  18. An experienced "synthesizer player" well as a lot of old school drum corps fans are going to say "I guess I won't be watching Madison this season !!" But then again maybe I'll take my holidays up north and not go to DCI, if this is the way it's going.
  19. Forget the rumours, I'll check the corps websites myself.
  20. Hey Sam, don't take any unnecessary chances. Your family is in my thoughts & prayers.
