  1. That's not too bad. I just don't want the option to buy single day to cut into the good deal 3 days currently are. I just took off Fri so I could see 25-13. Some great shows in there. But the "watch party" will be tomorrow.
  2. Boo usually throws them up in his live blog also when they get them.
  3. Yep. And DCI would be stupid to split the days. How do you price that? More corps more cash? So prelims $100, Semis $80, Finals $60? $78 for all 3 days ($25 ish a day.) Good deal. They gotta make money to make it worth it.
  4. It's like someone gave the Mandarin's Hornline a pair. And then told em to go out and throw them around. And they did. Love this show. And yes feels way under scored.
  5. Eh it's all good. While "working" I watched some of the OC corps and beginning of WC. My daughter told me she loved Mandarin's show. Now I know why. We are set of Sat night now to watch Finals and I may "work from home" tomorrow for Prelims.
  6. OK you guys probably know the answer to this. Is the only streaming package the entire thing for $79? I was thinking about going to the cinema tonight and have to work tomorrow. So really just want Finals Sat on a stream. Is there a finals only multi-cam price?
  7. Loved it. Like the musical choices and the hornline sounds good. There are some places they could back off the Synth fill a bit though. Might have been where the camera/mic were but it over powered the hornline in a few spots. Much improved over a few years ago.
  8. Yeah like Mingus said, at OU the Pride is part of the Athletic Dept. So are the Mens and Womens BBall bands. So they already pay for everything. Well and it might have changed but they paid us for BBall bands back in the day when I was in them. I did think it was cool we were one of the 7 schools listed by the commission that made money. But with oil prices down they had to delay a stadium expansion till next year. Here low oil prices are bad.
  9. OT but 88 was the one year they drew for positions during finals. I think it was a top 6, bottom 6 draw but it's been a long time. Many say without that draw Madison does not win. (I loved the show either way.) Notice that experiment was never repeated.
  10. Bingo. I've seen people carried so you don't have a hole mid season knowing they would never bring said person back because of this.
  11. Jenks huh. You couldn't find a better HS director to work with on stuff like this. Scott's a great guy.
  12. Big Stadium and usually a well attended show in the past. I marched it. Had an older kid that marched it. Then poof. My guess would be which ever the HS Band Parents groups that were sponsoring either lost interest or it was no longer making money. Happens.
  13. Vets normally do not get cut. Unless you either (a) get worse the next year or are lazy, (b) a dick, © can't find anyway to pay your dues and make no effort to change that.
  14. Been there done that man. I can remember sitting in the parking lot in Indy one night after finals thinking.. " Hmm I have about 750 miles to drive, a 1/2 tank and $20 dollars and..." But we made it lol. Drove all night straight trough all 12 hours. Naw I will figure it out. Their mom is a teacher. I'm just glad when one of them marches so I can ship her off for a month or two to cook. And since she is the youngest I will get an empty solo house for like a month man!!!
  15. No I totally get what you were trying to say. And I agree with it. I just kinda posted a counter point that all this stuff costs money, sports, drum corps, etc. And it's gotten to the point that it's pretty #### hard to afford. Even if your parents can come up with the money you have to make sacrifices to make it happen. And if you're in the situation you're talking about it can be #### near impossible. When I marched I talked my mother into writing checks to cover the last 1/2 of my dues but as a college student that first 1/2 was hard to come up with. That was 25 years ago and dues are a LOT higher. I wish I knew the answer or had the magic bullet to make it more affordable. But the economics of how drum corps is structured would have to be changed and as long as the top corps are turning kids away that's not happening any time soon. I will say this. I wish there was some way to remove the stigma attached with marching Open Class. You may not get the same experience marching with Genesis, Legends, 7th, MC, etc, etc but you do get a great experience and it is more affordable. If I can not afford the Mercedes I am not going to be so hard headed I walk to keep from driving the Ford.
  16. Yeah it's expensive. But like Horn Teacher said other activities/sports are as much if not more. I've had 2 kids march and it adds up. But.... #3 plays competitive softball and it's just as expensive if not more. So team sports depending on what level you run at is as much. 2-3 $300 bats, $150-$200 "pro model" glove. $150 per month facility and coaching fee. Bat bags, uniforms. 2-3 pairs of $100 cleats. $100 or so tournament fees per month and then travel expenses. And they play in Texas, Colorado, Fla, California. Oh and she is a pitcher so $100-$200 per month in the off season for lessons. All in the pursuit of playing at the college level. Better do it because you like it not for any scholarship you might get. Because as a friend of mine once said, if you add all this crap up I coulda paid for a great ACT prep course and the first 2 years of school for what this costs. LOL The costs of drum corps and competitive sports have priced a big chunk of kids out of the game regardless of talent. But it is what it is. Edit: Now that I added everything up in my head drum corps might be cheaper. LOL Also our HS band charges $200-$300. And they just compete regionally. #4 is a Tuba player but just 13. But she is already making out her "tryout" list when I will let her go in a couple of years.
  17. Awesome! The top five get all the glory but I hope there is always a place for corps like Pioneer. There were 36 corps at Indy and some new ones who have yet to make the trip. Support them all.
  18. BK, Coats, Colts, Xmen, OC, SOA. Yeah I have different tastes. Edit - Yeah ohwiseone from above. I agree with ya on BK. That show grew on me more and more.
  19. Actually I would pin them both and not unpin the 2014 till the season starts. It's nice if you find a recording of someone to come look and see what the show was if ya don't know.
  20. Glad to see Jubal back. They spent 20 minutes talking and laughing with a younger daughter at the souvie booth in Mich City in 2011. Seemed like a fun bunch. They will do what they do. Be louder than they should be for their size and entertaining. And they won't bump anyone out of finals. They'll do what they usually do and put them in the "International Division" and add one more to finals. So are La Stars going to finals this year? If so they will bump in there in the middle somewhere. Glad to see that. If they can keep it rolling, one group to watch for would be Guardians. That kid had 56 horns last year. Impressive. You can always get guard and drummers grow trees. But that many horns first year?? But from what I was told and have read they are slow burning it. May be 2-3 years before they show in Indy.
