  1. There will be food and beverage (sorry, no alcohol) service available during the contest and a post-show party at a local bar/restaurant just down the road ... directions will be posted shortly and maps will be available at the show. So ... c'mon out and "see the stars" ... or at least listen to me fumble through pronouncing their names ... LOL ... See ya on the 17th ... Andy "I love an old style I&E show" Lisko Andy....Is the Post Bash at the 3 Corners? Also, is the venue at the "Student Center" Auditorium or is it at the "Fishbowl" by Irunston Ave,( that's Iranistan if your not from Bridgeport). Hopefully the Doctors will let me have at least 1 cold one by then. If not, I buy you one and watch you drink it. Jim Ormiston...PCP
  2. Park City Pride will be doing two parades. A small, short family type parade in Milford,CT, and the Biggie in New Haven, CT. New Haven isn't bad until you get to Yale University and Kavanaugh's Pub. The drunk Yalies come out in force and try to join the Corps. The cops vanish, and your on your own. Snare sticks will put a bit of a hurt on an overzealous drunk. :mmm: :mmm: :mmm: :mmm: :mmm: :mmm:

  4. It's a little late to find a sober piper, but try this website. http://bagpiper.com/directory/bagpipers/all/ I've been playing for 15 years, but I'm doing Chemo right now and my piping and drumming are not doing to good right now. Jim Ormiston, Park City Pride, Snare Line
  5. Were you in West Haven the night the Hurcs, CT Alumni, & Park City Pride combined to play Hang Em/ Mag 7 to Jumping Joe? Even to see Big Al put down his Contra and pick up those monster Cymbals. A real magic night . Jim Ormiston...Park City Pride

  7. I was one of the lucky ones that made out pretty good from the draft. In July 1965 I joined St Raphael's Golden Buccaneers after my corps , Scarlet Knights, disbanded. In August, I got my Greetings letter from Uncle Sam inviting me to vacation with them for the next two years. In my infinate wisdom, I enlisted in the Marine Corps for the next four years. While at Parris Island they found out I was a drummer and was sent to the band barracks to audition for the band. When I told them I was a "Drum Corps" drummer, they sent me to the Field Music School to audition. After Boot Camp & ITR, I went back to PI to Drum & Bugle Corps School. Finishing first in the class I was given a choice of joining the snare line at either 8th&I or the snare line in the corps in Hawaii. Sorry DC, but surfing, beaches, & bikinis won out over the nice Red Jackets. Two years in Hawaii, and 1 1/2 years in the Corps in Chicago made for some preety good duty and a lot of travel time. 8. Harding High School would be to the right of this photo. The school you see on the left I believe is either St. Ambroise Catholic School or St. Charles on Boston Ave. I know this stadium well, played football here and marched Drum Corps on it. 11. . How about a review for those of us that couldn't make the trip ?
  12. Classical music has been played by drum corps since way back when.....late 50's, early 60's when Archer Epler played "Tonight we Love " otherwise known as Piano and Violin Concerto in B-flat minor, Opus 23. And they played it quite well on single piston/slide horns. The Hungarian Dances have been played, Romeo and Juliet, and more. They were arranged for the horns played at the time, and arranged for the Ears that listened to them. They were recognizable to the crowds....why? Because we grew up with these pieces as backround music to the cartoons we all watched. We were all familiar with them. When corps start playing pieces that are NOT recognizable to the general audience, they will lose that crowd. I would love to hear some Wagner played.......a little Rheingold anyone?????? :mmm: :mmm: :mmm: :mmm: :mmm: Scarlet Knights.........Snare Line.............................1961-1964 Golden Buccaneers...............................................1965 USMC D&B.....Snare,Tenor, Soprano, Mellophone....1965-1969 Pyramid Pipes & Drums.......Drum Sgt....................1982-2006 Park City Pride.........Snare Line.............................2004-

  18. Park City Pride will be playing on "old School" heads. It will really sound retro on the feature drum solo....listen for the Four bass beats and the tenor lead...then hold on tight.......Sorry I'm on the injured list and couldn't make the trip.
  19. Besides Moe being the Drum Corps Icon that he is......most people do not know that Moe is also a Shriner and devotes his "spare time" to driving kids and their family to the Shriners Orthopedic hospital in Springfield Mass, and the Shriners Childrens Burns Hospital in Boston. 20. and to the few of you who just can't seem to understand why we are doing this? get over yourselves! I actually had to field criticisms from a couple of our alumni that they thought one of our songs was not being played well. Hello? is it not June for us too? :P We have time... oh and guys? lighten up..its an alumni corps. We are doing this to have fun and try to be good. Not to try and win a trophy! Come down from your high horses for 2 minutes to try and understand that. I know we are not of the same caliber as the corps was on the night of finals in 1980!!!!! do you really think we ever could be? Not even the things you are doing now compare to that! Oh and BTW? its rude to do that to people.... OK enough down talk... last week was good for ALL the corps that were involved! :) Congrats to the Bridgemen on your return and to becoming Family with each other. Some people just don't get it. Why do we do this? Because we were raised in a time when family was important. As we get older and our own families are no longer with us......it's really a great feeling to suddenly have 200 new members to your family. Renewing old friendships, making new ones. The past almost 3 years with the Park City Pride has been a great experience. It may be Hokey, but it really does become Family. Enjoy the trip.........it gets even better once you realize that you can crank it up and still feed off the applause from the crowd. THERE AIN'T ANYTHING BETTER THAN THE RUSH ON THE FIELD!!!!!!!!!!!
