  1. I loved the helments as well, however, the helmets have been a huge issue ...keeping them on (dispite new inserts being put in), adjusting them, etc... What many may also not know is the helments are in very poor shape and difficult to maintain. Many of them are broken/severly cracked, the black piping is difficult to replace and fit, and the chain continues to be very difficult to keep adjusted....esp. for horn players running around the field. I have not seen the new shakoes in person, so I can not comment on how they actually look or if a different version of a helmet would have worked or not. But, something clearly needed to be done so as to look clean, and not be so distracting to the quality of the memebers playing!!! My hope is this will not distract from a great show, year, and members who are putting their hearts and souls into it. To me, the Blue Stars are about much more than a uniform...but the values and life lessons it teaches all those who are involved with the organization. FCO!!! Brian, 79,80,81
  2. how was the int show, it should be over now. Colts on?
  3. Because the real excitement is elsewere. Blue Devels, great yes, but same old same old, so tell me what else is new!!!!
  4. felt Blue Stars would have been much closer to BK and BAC
  5. may be due to being able to tune the horns within the dome rather than outside where it is hot. In the afternoon the warmup and tuneing has to take place outside, and then have to go directly into the cold dome. That did not happen between the 2 show, where they were able to tune within the cold dome before the show.
  6. QUOTE (brians @ Jul 19 2008, 05:59 PM) how about: Boston Blue Stars Blue Knights Or: Blue Stars Boston Blue Knights Or: Blue Stars Blue Knghts Boston I think by the end of the year a good chance, but tonight, I will take BAC, BS, BK
  7. i have noticed this about the Blue Stars guard as well. I challenge anyone to try to watch the Blue Stars and not stay focused on their guard. As an old horn player, who generally does not watch the guard that much, I simply can not take my eyes off of the guard during this show!!! Simply amazing!!!
  8. Blue Stars DM is a real pleasure to watch. Knows what he is doing and really draws you in!!!
  9. got to love the Blue Stars, unique, great music, story you can follow, great design, and wow..what a guard!!!
  10. I find it most interesting that nobody suggests that the Cadets took 2nd because of their cream pants, or that Phantom or Crown placed where they did because of the color of their white/light colored pants. Blaming the uniform as the reason for not placing better seems a little to easy and a bit of a cop out to me. I am just glad that the Blue Stars are trying someting different and have progressed as well as they have. Hope the future continues to shine bright for the Blue Stars!!
  11. If this is indeed the order for quarters, something is ?????, performance order does make a difference!!!
  12. Looking at the radar, it appears as though these stroms are isolated and move through quite quickly. Looks as though it will be clear soon.
  13. At some point you have to do what is good for the activity as a whole. If you go into the activity with the above attitude, you will win and you will get the most.....most money, most talented members, most sovie sales, most talented staff, most up to date equipment and touring vehicles, but in the end you will have no one to compete with. Activities like this requires a good will attitude of "what is good for one is good for all". If it's "all about me", in the end there will only be me.
  14. Something very strange has been going on with Blue Stars scores for several weeks now. This is just the latest example.
  15. THis goes to show that something very strange is occuring with Blue Stars scoring this year!!!
  16. Good review. Could not agree more. I also was somewhat let down by the cavies. I have never seen them have so many marching, and musical issues this late in the season. esp. for a top 3 corps. They appeared very flat tonight and would also agree that their horn volume and overall playing just did not seem to match up against the other div. 1 corps tonight. Many sitting around me thought this preformance may not have broke 90.
  17. Holy mother of mellophones!!!! The mellophones in that closing segment are awsome!! And to think they are doing this on the march, or rather run, during that closing segment.
  18. The battle for 10-12 reminds me somewhat of the old days where corps were in dog fights for placement. This is were the real excitement currently is. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. The competition is extreemely fierce and the corps that can display the most passion, heart and belief on a consistant basis will probably come out on top.
  19. It is the Blue Stars experimenting with the newest trend in drum corps, on field displays, not unlike WGI floor mats.
  20. Some may say, "Come talk after you have been on the road for almost 2 months, you will understand then"
  21. Well, as was written in one of the threads about the Acadamy, this is one of the most truthful comments I have ever read on here. esp regarding the fairness comments!!
