Bucbari
You're kidding me with that "anniversary year" comment, aren't you?Oh.... that's right. I forgot about that DCA rule that automatically gives the championship to a corps celebrating a major anniversary. So it's not like the Bucs have actually worked hard and put together a great program. Troll. Fran I don't know where he came from Fran. <**> I watched Bush hurcs and Bucs rehearse yesterday afternoon. Everyone is working very hard but DCA isn't just going to give shows away because of an anniversary. A little aside to what I saw at the show and rehearsals yesterday. The Hurcs have worked their a****es off. I was really impressed. We had all better watch out in the future because the storm warning is coming. And another aside....WE miss the hell out of you Fran. Andyroo
Look guys, it's obvious that DCA gives championships away to corps that are celebrating some kind of a major milestone/anniversary. After all, last year was Hawthorne's 60th anniversary and look what happened. Oh wait... Erase that... Never mind... <sarcasm button off> Andy

Fran Haring
And another aside....WE miss the hell out of you Fran.Oscar Thanks, George.....much appreciated! I'm looking forward to DCA Finals. It'll be an interesting perspective for me, since I haven't seen any DCA corps since June. Heh...... yesterday, Barbara not only asked me again about getting hugs from the Buccaneers' drum majors, but asked if I could get a kiss from them for her, too. I told her.... Diane, sure.... but I am NOT kissing Josh, Nigel or Irv.....LOL... not that there's anything wrong with that!!!! Fran

pearlsnaredrummer77
[Good reviews. It seems that Bucs are almost a lock, bit after that, anyone could end-up in any spot.
DaveDrum
You are a mental patient and have no idea what you are talking about.Any one of the top 6 DCA corps of today would laugh at any of the champions from the 70's on the field of competition. It would be embarrasing and painful to watch. Todays corps are playing more, marching drills that arent even comparable to 30 years ago and are so far more creative than those older corps that you couldnt possibly even judge them against each other. Yes....I have total respect for the corps from back then. I grew up on that. But you have to be kidding saying how far off DCA has fallen compared to those days. You're just silly. You should just stick with your old videos. You'll be less miserable and ridiculous sounding. Hello ! It's Me The Mental Patient Again ! I'm sorry you mis-understood my use of the word "SUCK" I'm sorry if I brused your twenty-first century ego, and by the way, I know enough about the politics of our sport, to know that the DCA that I knew and loved, and performed in for many, many years may not survive for my grandchildren. I should have made it clear that I was not talking about the quality of the Performance, just the quality of the competition. The performance is what it is . . . and you guys today have a tough job trying to impress the people withn the tape recorders. Still, Today's shows are within the perameters of what the rules have evolved into. Maybe what I'm trying to say (and this is the wrong Forum for it), is that I prefer a judging system with only a couple of tape recorders and lots of clipboards. Once upon a time if you lost a show by one half of a tenth you could think of five or six personal mistakes that might have taken the blame. and you could work on them and be better next week. I prefer that to a system where opinions are made on your show, and if you don't come into the competition season "ready for battle" as Reading did this year, you may not have enough time to correct your problem areas, and raise your score. It seems that the season is just too short to make a difference. I don't sit home with my old videos, but I also can't see spending good money on a foregone conclusion. I'd rather go to an Alumni Show, enjoy myself and enjoy every corps. Alot of people feel the same way I do, and there in a nutshell is DCA's problem. I've noticed that in the stands the audiences seem to prefer the alumni corps approach. A traditional drill manuever like a pinwheel or company front seems to draw more audiable audience appreciation than a corps running three miles. I think that there's a clear line of demarcation between what the fans enjoy versus the vision of the artistic staff. It's not to say that people don't enjoy the modern approach, but from where I've been sitting, it seems that old school approach is more popular with the average drum corps fan. To tell the truth, I'm kind of tired of the t\"theme" shows and would like to see a top DCI and DCA corps comeout and just play a show full of fan favorites. This is not intended as a rip on current DCA/DCI staff-because I think they are producing excellent, although perhaps not as crowd=pleasing product. Smglennon
no surprises tonight according to DCA.org:Bucs 92.588 Cabs 90.925 Bush 89.05 Hurcs 86.026 What did you expect, it's their anniversary year and the rest of the Corps suck How do you perfect a show doing 8 contests a year? Back in the 70's we did 20 - 25 shows between memorial day and labor day. Are you old enough to remember Mount Carmel ? Hamden ? Stratford, etc...etc...etc... I used to lose 25 pounds every summer It was better than going to the gym. Corps used to worry about peaking early ! not to mention the fact that waiting lists to get into some corps kept the quality of the membership really high. their were no kids filling spots. It's really a shame how far the DCA has fallen. That's why Alumni Corps are so popular Most of them still have some of that old spark that made Senior Corps the pinnicle of the sport. I miss that first note that moved the stands back 5 feet. Yeah I marched Cabs for our 50th and we won......oh wait, no we didn't. I also marched for our 60th and we won again....oh wait, no we didn't. I won with the Cabs 57th Aniversary Year. What an aniversary. ^0^
