Ray Priester
O.K. not to belabor this feature....but I will.... my understanding was, Butch was with Syracuse, wanted to be the DM at NY. However, he was told that spot was pencilled-in for Jimmy Russo who was about to age-out of Lucy's....deep breath. Butch stayed with Brigs. ..'nuther deep breath. Jimmy decides to forego the Big Red, and instead stays in Jersey with the bell-bottom brigade. Bingo, Butchie to NY, the rest is history....... Butch played lead sop with NY in 1970, went back to DM Brigs in '71, came back to NY as co-DM with Wink in '72 and lead DM in '73, if I recall the years correctly.

Make people really think / work on it. Then wait it out a while before tossing another tiny vague tidbit...C'mon we've got to make these last a little longer. PLEASE??Also, any comments made MUST be made in good taste... this is a fun loving thread... not a revenge match. TomPeashey
Butch was a sweet horn player... very talented... and yes, he was a great leader... It was a pleasure to work with him and under him in 1971
