thewdude2
Great BrassLine play with 120db without being mic-ed. Now I know I love that awesome wall of sound that rips the skin off my face as much as the guy next to me, but to have that amplified???? I think It might be overkill. And for the parts when a coprs is playing softly or backfeild, when done right, I get even bigger goosebumps than when the hornline is just blasting. i.e. Crown 2007, SCV 1989. If you amplify that, I think it takes away from the reality of what the corps is really doing.

notelvis
http://www.dci.org/rules/pdf/2008/05_amps_brass.pdf Could accomplish same by permitting the use of 'G' bugles.
DrumCorpsFan27
Could accomplish same by permitting the use of 'G' bugles. G-bugles are permitted, it's just that nobody uses them. Why not? They can't win with them and then they can't sell them because no one else is using them.
Tank
If the rule passes, just like it would be legal to mic 72 brass, you are not going to see that either. That is MHO. I'll be sure to save this comment for later this year or next year. Edited January 2, 2008 by Tank

rayfallon
No amped brass...please. I used to listen to F4s taking off 2 at a time on afterburner.... our barracks was right up against the runway at Da Nang. They'd take off about 140 aircraft like that. Stuff would fall off of shelves, glass things would break. After you were there for a couple of months you slept through it. I would just as soon amplify the fighter jets as 70 brass instruments. Stop the madness.
boston_crusaders135
The next thing you know, they'll be letting woodwinds into DCI. This needs to come to a stop before it gets REALLY ridicoulous. Not that it already is, of course. :thumbs down:
rayfallon
Ya know, I'd love to hear from the 21 people who voted for this on the poll. This is one of those things that seems (to me) to be such a bad idea right on the face of it, that I can't see the benefits, even if I think hard about it. Sometimes when I get like that, I'm missing something. Other times of course it's just because it's such an awful idea.

What reason is there for it to be prohibited? None that I can think of. But then again, outside of safety issues, and damaging tbe field issues, IMO there should be no limits at all on corps instrumentation and amplification.
