Finals Tickets: $125/ea.

I have to say, I'm quite annoyed that no only has DCI taken div 2/3 out of the same stadium as div 1 - they've actually taken them out of the same city. If I was a member in one of those corps I would be quite upset - if for no other reason, that makes it more difficult to get to and from the div 1 shows later in the week.

"They" didn't. WE did. And WE are quite thrilled about it for many reasons.

On behalf of my colleagues and their respective organizations, WE hope to see YOU there.

Just sneak in!! :-P

give a pit member a hand moving a giant marimba into the stadium :)

And as for Open prelims....as a performer, i'd actually prefer a smaller venue. Nothin sucks more than performing in a professional sized stadium, to a crowd of 50 people. That takes the whole fun out of it. I enjoyed div 2/3 prelims at a high school in 2000 compared to the div 2/3 prelims at Ralph Wilson stadium the next year (we weren't even allowed to roll our keyboards over the white lines on the field!)

This year will be my first attending World Championships, so perhaps there's some history I don't understand. With that disclaimer, I don't see how this is a big deal. It's WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. Comparable seats at other world/national championships, i.e. Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals, NHL Finals, Sprint Cup Chase tickets, BCS National Championship, Final Four... you're not getting better value than that. Add to this the fact that instead of seeing two teams compete, as is the case in all of the above but the NASCAR example, you get to see 12. Plus, as many have pointed out, there are cheaper options either during finals or by catching other sessions and getting to see even more corps.

Is that a beer & BBQ invitation?

Well, I'm not a beer drinker and I'm a vegetarian, so unless you want to watch me fry some tofu...

However, I can direct everyone to Smokey's BBQ on Route 20 just a few miles west of Michigan City. Kid Rock ate there a couple years ago and signed their wall with a magic marker than it was the best BBQ he had west of Detroit. I've gone there with friends and had the vegetarian sides...The waitress told me the owner was furious because he had just painted the walls and ordered the "graffiti" painted over. She explained to him that the huge signature and note on the walls would be good for business, so he left it up.

Seriously, if you want BBQ, this hole in the wall eatery is the place to go.

You shouldn't be annoyed. The directors asked for it to be that way. They greatly enjoyed the Great Lakes Invitational II&III show held in Michigan City in the past. The directors I've talked to loved the show there, saying the city really comes out for the event. There will be a lot more than the couple hundred who usually show up for the class prelims/Quarterfinals now.

It does not make it any more difficult to get to the other shows later in the week. All corps have to come in from somewhere. Open Class corps will come in from Michigan City instead of some other city that in all likelihood would be even further away. It's not a bad trip from Michigan City to Indianapolis/Bloomington.

The decision to go to Michigan City and give the kids a great competitive environment for Open Class Quarterfinals was not taken without a lot of input from the corps that are involved. I've talked to quite a number of directors who are looking forward to it.

If you haven't seen what Michigan City does to welcome the corps, I heartily encourage you to come to Michigan City and check it out. I've even seen corps get a police escort out of town to get to I-94 or the Indiana Tollway.

When do the advanced ticket holders get notice of their seat assignments? If they are selling singles show, it must be complete yet I don’t know of any announcements from DCI.

I’m not bothered by the price really, what is it about a dollar per minute? but I am bothered by the excessively large area that qualifies as super-premium. I’d pay even a bit more if I was guaranteed a better seat. I was sorely disappointed last year that super-premium tickets I had bought the previous August (order date was stamped on the tickets) had me out past the 30. I was even more disappointed by the incessant (or incandescent) buzzing of the lights, the horrible field condition, terrible stadium access, and shallow slope of the stadium that prevented good overhead viewing. Oh, and I hated being in the same seats 3 days in a row, more so because I then had to spend 3 days with some creepy dudes sitting in front of me. I really should have skipped last year, had I known, I would have. I felt ripped off and bitter by the entire running of that show

So yeah, I’ll pay more but I also expect more again, I feel I’m being ripped off by DCI because they can’t deliver the goods. If you recall 2006, I was wedged in my seats, stuck behind the massive seat backs, arm rest, nap sack over they back with cup holders contraption…then their little brat played gameboy and whined during the show. All DCI could offer was to move me and the others to crappier seats.

I mean this in all friendliness, but you think DCI Finals are comparable to the Super Bowl as an event?

Of course not. That's why people aren't paying $10,000 for the tickets.

However it IS our Super Bowl, so of course the tickets are going to be worth more.

Hey guys ...

I'd say so, especially in our little niche of the major league of marching music!

Now if only DCI could pull off a Justin + Madonna halftime show at Finals!

Madonna: Time is waiting

Justin: We've only got 4 minutes to save the world

Madonna: No hesitatin, Grab a boy

Justin: grab a girl

Madonna: Time is waiting

Justin: We only got 4 minutes to savethe world

Madonna: No hesitatin'

Justin: We only got four minutes(uhh)a 4 minutes

Ohhhhhhhh, even better idea ... isn't NKOTB touring again?!!

It’s nowhere near the super bowl, for one things, the top corps will all go head to head several times throughout the years…for a second thing, super bowl tickets prices are so high because there is such a high demand if you created a ratio for price per championship ticket based upon the activities number of fans, DCI finals would be would be extremely more expensive, think demand curves and what you learned in econ
