BigBadMadMan
So you leave the Colts, march Madison one year and you know all about being a Scout? Seems like you know a lot about design and teaching...Why drive a truck? Apparently you should be teaching and running a corps... Heeeeeey....sarcasm.... ....how insightful. *shrug* well...at least I was involved.

Scerpella
Why do you think the staff walked? Solidarity? NO.... Respect for Sal, the guy who really bled Scouts. The guy who wanted nothing more than to bring them back to elite status. Do you really think these current designers and staff bleed Madison?...... (LONG PAUSE ON PURPOSE)............ Or are they in it for a paycheck? Sal was a brother who bled Madison, and the BOD sold him out. Are you really going to try and paint Sal as an altruist when his salary was 3 times what Stewart made? I dont doubt Sal bled Madison, but before he bled Scouts he bled Commodores, then Spirit, then Glassmen, then Glassmen again. So before you start talking about whos in it for the money you should pause and reflect. My own view was that it was Cesario who became the heart and soul of that corps. Every time I came by Sal was off in the background. Kids I know who marched said Cesario was the guy giving the rah rah speeches talking about what it meant to be a Scout. Sorry, I'm not going away, or am I singing the party line. I think the BOD should reconsider hiring Sal back as director. They probably cant afford him. Not to be contrary, but Salas might not have been the best suited to give that kind of speech. He was the main guy in charge of all the big stuff like cash flow management and restocking souvie trailers, along with trying to make the creative team and staff come to an agreement. From what I hear, that became harder and harder in 06 and led in part to such a low scoring spot. If I was marching, I'd rather have someone closer to the philosophical aspects of the organization tell me about such a rich tradition and how to honor and represent their fellow corps members and alumni. Pinwiz
I've been staying out of this thread because my thoughts on Madison are well known, but I do give credit where credit is due: This year's show is the most authentic Madison show that I've seen since the 90s. When it finished, I thought "That was the show people are freaking out with their gloom and doom? They're crazy." Sure, there's issues but they can be fixed. The season is not over. I truly can not wait to see them later in the season from a higher vantage point. And as long as it's not Madison vs. Troop for 17th, I'll be happy. We can both have Semis. RobertPi1ot
Wow Linda, I'm only 47, Viva Viagra and Go Scouts!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor Jerry... I'm not asking you to get snipped, just to lay off that double-dose of Viagra for a while...You guys are such easy targets for flame-bait... really, now, choose your battles instead of jumping into every little fray. You'd think that by age 50-ish you guys would have learned how to deal with playground bullies by now. Seems Viagra is turning back the clock in more ways than one... Actually, you're acting more like you need a Kotex than... well... let's leave it at that. GO SCOUTS!!!!! When it finished, I thought "That was the show people are freaking out with their gloom and doom? They're crazy." I feel the same way. I don't understand the criticism some are directing towards the design team. I really, really like this show. In my opinion, it "feels" like Madison more than any show of theirs I've seen this decade. Each to their own I guess.
