Still no recaps.

And I thought "snail mail" was only a figure of speech...

Kosmos show, titled 'Possessed', features the music of cult and evil, as the central character in the show becomes a vessel for unspeakable evil. The opener features a medley of dark and evil music, but the most chilling portion of the program came with the performance of 'Host of Seraphim' by Dead Can Dance, one of the most powerful moments of the night. Closing with 'Tocatta' by Emerson lake and palmer and Franz Biebl's 'Ave Maria', the show brought the crowd to its feet a minute before the show was complete, cheering as the girl frees herself from the clutches of evil.

Or DOES she?

Or DOES she?

Well, she does... for now.

The cult's power is broken, and the force of evil is forced to retreat as the joyous strains of Franz Biebl's "Ave Maria" fill the skies with hope and salvation. The girl is free from the clutches of evil, free to work to restore life to the world, free...

For now...

What I'd really like to see 'set free' are the recaps from Wichita Falls!

I see last night results are in. Cross got another win in Hattiesburg. Hawaii a second place to Blue Dynasty. Hawaii is still struggling with some of horn rewrites but a good rebound from Monday night. Jupiter a nice third in Little Rock in some really heavy competition. RVR..88...wow! I am not sure what Glory of Music feed their 2 corps last night??

All in all great to see the parity this summer. Different corps shining on individual nights. No reputation slotting by the judging community..the way it should be.

FANFARE Championships are tonight. We are very excited to be hosting with SMO.

Spinach. Lots and lots of spinach. *cues Popeye theme* :hehe:

Little Rock was good to us. 2nd in Division I for Glory of Polaris, and the first win of the season in Division II for Glory of Eden. The staff is very pleased, but we're well aware that all the other corps will make adjustments to catch up (and, in some cases, pass us). No resting on our laurels just yet.

Tonight is the big Memphis show that has been widely talked about as "The Show" to be at. MN Madness had a rehearsal day yesterday and is super excited about tonights show. Everything is going well with the corps and the show is coming along very nicely. Hopefully MN Madness can win this show and stop the streak of finishing 2nd or 3rd.

Good luck to everybody tonight!!!

It was a hard fall last night for The Corps of Unspecified Identity.

After finishing third the night before in Monroe, Louisiana with a score of 86.945 (behind Kosmos (1st, 97.339) and Tri-Color (2nd, 87.100)), the corps packed up the truck and began their travel to Arkansas.

Somewhere near Monticello while traveling north on US-425, a raccoon ran into the road in front of one of the corps buses. The bus swerved to miss the animal, but lost control. The bus drove off the road and into the ditch. Everyone on the bus was ok, and the bus sustained only minor damage. The raccoon didn't make it.

"They say Monticello is beautiful," said one of the members, while standing on the side of the road while the bus was pulled out of the ditch with a tow truck. "Oh, wait, but that Monticello is in Virginia, isn't it?" he said with a laugh.

Tri-Color pulled to the side of the road to see if Unspecified needed any help. Once it was determined the bus was in drivable condition, corps director Chris Rohn sent them on their way.

"It was great of Tri-Color to stop and make sure we were all okay," said Rohn. "Its that kind of concern for each other that makes drum corps so great."

The corps didn't arrive in Little Rock until after 8am that morning.

With only one hour of floor time, the corps began their rehearsal. Then it started raining.

"We decided to just let the members rest in the afternoon," said Rohn, who was looking pretty exhausted himself. "We had a rough night last night."

At the show in Little Rock the corps placed tenth out of 23 corps, with a score of 85.976. The members were given a 'pass' for their lackluster performance.

"The mistakes made out there tonight, really, were inexcusable," said Rohn. "Members were missing forms, the guard was dropping equipment. Percussion was sloppy. The hornline is what saved us tonight. They had their best show of the year."

Winning the show was River Valley Regiment, from Van Buren, Arkansas, which is just about 150 miles up the Arkansas River from Little Rock. They earned their 'home show' ovation with a score of 88.342. River Valley Regiment's program, "Dream: The Music of Clint Mansell" explores the peace and panic of slipping into a night's dream.

The surprise of the show was Glory of Polaris (2nd, 87.923), who seemed to come from nowhere and managed to squeak by Star of Jupiter (3rd, 87.917). The Stud Bolts (4th, 87.826) would have earned the silver medal were it not for a 1/4 point timing penalty. Rounding out the top five was Velour Knights with a score of 87.625.

After the show, The Corps of Unspecified Identity and Tri-Color socialized over crepes with an assortment of delicious toppings. The two corps compete again tonight in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Corps of Unspecified Identity managed to arrive at housing this morning ahead of schedule.
