drumnerd09
Does anyone know what the name of the Cavies bass cadence is called and where I could get a good (or any) recording or possibly the sheet music?
DCIHasBeen
It's called Iowa, and I believe it's passed down from generation to generation.
Cavalier2123
Iowa, yep. It's a 4-beat triplet accent pattern that is repeated. Each drum enters at a different beat, and top bass solos. It is apparently extremely hard to clap to.
08Hawkeye
Bold = accent. Bottom bass: 1 & a 2 & a 3 & a 4 & a | repeat 4th bass plays same thing but enters on beat two.. 3rd on beat 3... 2 on 2 and top solos as stated. lnavis
My favorite cadence of all time!
mobrien
It is apparently extremely hard to clap to. And even harder for other corps to march in step to... Lather, rinse, repeat.... Edited July 17, 2008 by mobrien
Fastone
And even harder for other corps to march in step to... Lather, rinse, repeat.... I don't see why, compared to some cadences I've heard over the last few years that have everything but the kitchen sink in it, the Cavies cadence has a nice groove. I've been digging it since "66" Edited July 17, 2008 by Fastone
Vanguard Rich
I don't see why, compared to some cadences I've heard over the last few years that have everything but the kitchen sink in it, the Cavies cadence has a nice groove. I've been digging it since "66" In the '60's the Chicago Royal Airs' three pitched bass drums also had a simple cadence going as well, one that is still a favorite of mine. mobrien
I don't see why... Me neither, but you could always stand there and watch non-drummers from other corps struggling to find "one." Sort of entertaining, in its own way.
Tyler C.
Thanks, everyone, I've been looking for this for a long time.
