GregGilman
Nice to see a hornline that plays well both loud and soft. Big kudos to Crowns brass... tasty, tasty, tasty! - GG
Newseditor44
How would streaming finals be different from having the PBS/ESPN broadcasts? I doubt those broadcasts negatively impacted attendance or DVD/CD sales (might have even increased sales). Because someone, somewhere convinced Dan and company that doing it would be bad for revenue. I tend to disagree, but it doesn't matter what any of us think, they won't cave and aren't gonna do it. Gotta buy the videos and fork over the cash. IMHO, it's horse*%&@ ! kevingamin
Now for one of the most beautiful musical moments of the night - Clair de Lune. This is a horn line which can truly pull off the subtleties of this piece. What's more, with the melding of moments from West Side Story's Somewhere, the last chord is one of the most haunting moments on the field this year, if not in the history of the activity. bksnare84
What going to be Crown's surprise ending?

I doubt those broadcasts negatively impacted attendance or DVD/CD sales (might have even increased sales). My suspicion is the timing issue. PBS tended to run July 4 in mid season and ESPN2 came out a month or so later and only showed abbreviated top 8 (?) performances. I am, however, grateful to Kevin and the BD Blog for keeping us in the loop.
GregGilman
Wow! Nice ripple behind-the-back catch on a 1.5 in the flag line. That was great! - GG
Anne-Marie (Debbie) Stark
Not too long ago (HA!) it wouldn't matter if a corps was 6th or 7th and taking the drum trophy! (Anyone remember Bridgemen, 27th, Spirit back in the day??). To this day, 27th had the BEST alum corp! Ted Turner really helped bring Spirit of Atlanta into the forefront (even stealing Jim Ott from BDs)

When I heard it, it reminded me of the end of the slow movement of Belshazaar's in 90 - of course, both have the elder Van Doren's fingerprints all over them. csugrad
Evan is againg out and his younger sister is a first year member of the guard at Crown! Keeping it in the family. Guess we can figure Donny will be there atleast until she ages out or decides to go somewhere else.
