Jim Anello
Dam, i'd better brush up on my history Still, where did all those females come from? A combination of places. Some from Guardmen, some from a color guard in Milwaukee called Village Green.
Legolaus
1976 will forever stick in my memory as a great year in Drum Corps. Not only were the top 6 great, as previously mentioned, but what sticks in my memory to set this year apart from some of the others was the quality of the corps that did not make finals. Troopers and Cadets missed finals with great programs, but Squires, Royal Crusaders and Argonne were fantastic. I still listen to Squires and marvel at their brass line. In finals that year were Oakland Crusaders, Blue Stars and Freelancers with great programs. Oakland is still one of my all time favorite drum corps show. Power and excitement from beginning to end! Who played this???Seriously I have wettish dreams of a modern corps doing this piece...

Regards, John As far as "Rite of Spring," Phantom only used the "primal beat," that is, the now-legendary accents in the battery at the beginning of the Stravinsky medley off the line, which is, as I've said many many times before, IMO, the greatest number in drum corps history. I second that. Although I think the Cadets did a pretty good job in '77. Didn't Phantom bring it back last year? I don't know why that stuck in my mind… Puppet
