oldsoprano
To me, a great ballad is the one that you leave the stadium humming. Spirit's "Dust in the Wind" was my personal favorite. Like Mr. Boo has mentioned elsewhere, I also can't get it out of my head. Edited August 11, 2009 by oldsoprano

troon8
To me, a great ballad is the one that you leave the stadium humming."Dust in the Wind" was my personal favorite. Like Mr. Boo has mentioned elsewhere, I also can't get it out of my head. The only reason I don't also vote for that one is (through no fault of Spirit,) I can't ever hear that tune without thinking a certain scene in the movie "Old School"... BLUUUUUUUEEEE!!! (And I don't mean Bluecoats!) Crown, Colts, and Cadets are all tied in my mind. Which means that it was a good year for ballads of corps that start with C, as well as West Side Story, or parts thereof.
Tito John
#1 Sky Blue ('Coats)#2 Ebb Tide (Colts) I'd put them in the opposite order, but otherwise I agree with you.
NYCFan
I've watched the majority of the shows this season (all of the top 12 just from 17 on it gets a little fuzzy)Who had the best ballad this year? @1 Phantom, as usual, with that lovely solo. #2 Crown. Galen
Troop, Cadets, Cavaliers and Bluecoats. Extra props for Vanguard- their whole SHOW was a ballad!
PunkRawkBandGeek
Glassmen--gorgeous solos and a lot of heart. Bloo--a little bit of magic. Troop--Same deal. Colts--Like the G-crew, those kids got heart. 'Nuff said.

corpsband
Crowns Ballad was pretty amazing. I felt like the re-entrance after the hit (started with only mellos, but added other horns later on) was a little risky.Spirits ballad had that cool steel drum and brass acapela hit. The absolute silence during the frozen moment and the re-entrance into rainbow was pretty much my favorite moment of season. Also very much enjoyed Bluecoats and Blue Stars ballads this year.
