Glassmen will still be in the 14-10 area. Weber needs a strong person to keep him in touch, not there, thgey still have Don Hill writing music so that will only take them so far and not sure Sal Salas is the answer as coordinator. Maybe you just haven't noticed, but with Sal Salas and Don Hill the corps has often pushed as high as 7th and 8th in the rankings. I think the corps is really on the right track, and that the Glassmen administration has done an excellent job of bringing the corps back to the levels of performance they maintained from 1998-2002. Although the competition has gotten stiffer and G-West a little older, the Glassmen are still the Glassmen and they have continued to put out excellent, competitive products. It's just too bad that DCI has felt the need to pigeonhole them into "Glass Place" at finals 05-08. I think Pete Weber will likely be a very solid addition to an already very solid drum corps. Newseditor44
Visual design isn't there biggest problem, it's show concept. With the exception of about 2, I have seen each of their shows since 1989, and after a first viewing did not have any desire to go back and listen or watch again. From a design standpoint I have found them incredibly dull and boring. Edited September 23, 2009 by Newseditor44

When have the Glassmen been pushing as high as 7th and 8th in the rankings? My opinion is that they were going in the right direction from '85 until '02. They were generally improving year-to-year. Occasionally they'd pick a design dud and their placement would drop. They'd fix the problem the next year... Since then, and I do apologize to those who will be offended, there have been more design duds, which I think has hurt the placements and the recruiting of talent... Actually, it's brass that's the biggest problem for G-Men THEN visual ( marching and design) . The percussion and guard are great. I hope they can put together another string of great shows like the string from '97-'02 again. Maybe Weber can help with that a bit? 8-) 1996 13 82.700 An(other) American Revolution 1997 8 90.000 The Age of Gold: The Music of Georges Bizet 1998 5 92.800 Dreams of Gold: The Music of Alexander Borodin 1999 5 93.700 Empire of Gold 2000 8 90.350 Music of George Gershwin - Piano Concerto in F 2001 5 94.300 IMAGO 2002 8 91.000 Odyssey - Javelin * Millennium Symphony 2003 14 84.500 The Elements: Air, Earth, Fire & Water 2004 12 85.950 Voice of One 2005 11 87.700 A New World - New World Symphony 2006 11 86.000 Beethoven: Mastery & Madness 2007 11 85.750 Gitano 2008 11 87.200 Kar-ne-vel 2009 10 87.750 The Journey of ONE Edited September 23, 2009 by jjeffeory

One week out from finals in 2008, the Glassmen were running in 8th place, ahead of BAC and BS. I didn't follow the scores as closely this past year, so I'm not sure if that happened or not. Although there are numbers given every year at nationals, there is a lot of competition that happens throughout the season, and Glassmen have had moments where they pulled out in front of their competitors. Many of the people who were with corps in 2001 were still around in 2005; Sal Salas and Brian Hickman are still coordinating there.

I was looking at their placements and trying to figure out what you were saying. I had high hopes for that 2005 show. Hopefully they can get all the pieces together again, I think Weber is a great add on the design side...
IntheMood
Visual design isn't there biggest problem, it's show concept. In the past 20 years I have yet to listen to one of there shows because I find them incredibly dull and boring. "In the past 20 years I have yet to listen to one of there shows because I find them incredibly dull and boring" Your words not mine. Are you saying you turn down the audio and just watch the show? If this is the case then by all means voice your feelings. If this is not the case and you are saying that you have not watched a Glassmen show in 20 years. Then how can you say they are incredibly dull and boring with out seeing or listening to a Glassmen Show in 20 years. Your words on this subject ring hollow with me.
