BMBob
The ones that are popping up over and over in responses are, of course, on my list. I have to add Madison Scouts 1999, though, just for me. Everybody has that one show that really pulled them into the activity, and that was it for me. I had first seen drum corps in 1998 and didn't really know what I was looking at/for. In 1999, seeing this show live just did it for me. I also saw Blue Devils at the same show, but a lot of what was going on in that show was still a little bit over my head. I would rank it above Scouts' show now, but Jesus Christ Superstar will always have a special spot in my drum corps memory.
BRASSO
Well, since the question was memorable " shows ", it would seem to me the standard bearer would still have to be the 1994 27th Lancers Reunion show at DCI Championships in 1994. If there has been a louder and longer sustained ovation for a DCI Show after that performance, then I'm not aware of it. The 2nd most memorable show performance might be the Finals performance of the 1995 Madison Scouts , 3rd place being the 2008 Phantom Regiment Finals " Spartacus " performance, 4th place being the 1989 SCV " Phantom of the Opera " Finals show performance, 5th place the 1984 Cadets " West Side Story" Finals show performance, and 6th place being Carolina Crown's " Triple Crown " Finals show performance. I'd base this on the audience response that I saw and heard to these shows. I do recognize that judging this by audience response is a subjective evaluation. But then again, all judging is subjective anyway when comparing great and memorable shows that audiences seemed to have loved the most. TerriTroop
I started marching in 1983. Believe it or not, I had never heard of drum corps when I attended my first Nighthawks camp. I saw my first drum corps show ever when we went on tour. With that context, my list: 1983 Cadets (Z-pull!!!!) 1983 SCV (first corps I fell in love with during my first year) 1985 Suncoast 1986 Blue Devils (Raw power!!!) 1988 Madison (this version of Malaguena completely blew me away) 1992 Cadets (Loved the silent guard work followed by low brass chord) 1992 Crossmen (amazing power in the drumline, along with amazing writing) 1992 Madison (City of Angels - one of my favorite drum corps shows of all time) (long dry spell of shows I don't recall because I wasn't as involved in corps at the time, maybe I'll go back and watch some videos online and pick a few.) 2003 Phantom (Harmonic Journey is one of my absolute favorite shows to run to) 2007 Troopers (sure, it placed low, but there was a corps from Casper back in DCI!) 2007 Crown (Triple Crown is just perfect, IMO) 2008 Phantom (no way I'll ever forget Spartacus 2.0) 2009 Troopers (HONK! Western Side Story)
