Gypsy Baron
I think it was 1954 with St. Joe's of Batavia. Marched with them in the snare line until I graduated high school and went into the Navy in 1959. Marched with the Recruit D & B corps, Great Lakes during my boot camp. That was my last appearance with a corps until DCA finals in 2008, when I was with the SF Renegades Honor Guard. Stayed with the Renegades in that capacity through 2009 and am looking forward to marching the 2010 season under the 'sign of the 7'! JimF-LowBari
Feel like a kid here after seeing the first few posts... First practice was Thanksgiving Sunday 1973..... That corps folded about 3 months later..... Saw my first show June 1974 at Hershey. Yeah didn't see a corps until half a year after I joined one. LOL, got to play three different types of Baris my first few months: 2 horizontal valve, piston/slide and piston rotor. Nothing like being with a start up corps and another corps trying to get back on the field after being defunct. CarolleeT
I joined Audubon in July of 1959. My first contest was Nationals in Miami 1960. (I was a substitute that year and had to fill in a spot for a girl who could not get off of work.) That was a hell of a first contest. We came in third and took high horns over Juniors and Seniors. Sayre Kulp
1991 was when I first started marching in the A-squad. And despite the fact that I was only 7 or 8 years old, I was never a mascot.
