I am sorry if this "flames" this topic, but this show is "executed" well, but is visually distracting. No wonder they have scores so high in visual; there is so much distraction in this show that it is schizophrenic. It would be a shame if a show that is not even a crowd favorite would achieve the highest score ever! Don't get me wrong: The kids are great, but the show is no where near the best show ever. In fact to my "visual" eye, it is not in the top 8 shows visually this year. This is not innovation. Is no one else bothered by the "visual clutter" in this show?

It bothers me, but the judges like what they like. And if they are going for visual clutter in portions of their program and they achieve it, shouldn't they be rewarded? You have to admit the sliding polygon drill is very, very organized.

I'll probably listen to this show on the iPod and watch the other ones on the DVDs as well as the iPod. Kind of like last year. For others, it will probably be different.

you do realize that the blue Devils scored a 95.75 last year on July 31st, which is .1 higher than what they got this year.

Just saying

Finals were on Aug 8 last year as opposed to Aug 14 this year.

so July 31 2009 was one week before finals whereas July 31 2010 is 2 weeks before finals.

Well, the body movement epidemic is here, thanks to BD and crown. Interesting, eh?

I've been rewatching some mid-90s shows lately, and body movement was already way more common than I remembered. Maybe no cartwheels or arabesques, but plenty of leaning, arm waving, etc. Also, lots of jazz running, fwiw.

I think it is entirely possible that Blue Devils will again reach 99 or higher, and have a legit shot at setting a new record for highest score. After Atlanta's score, they literally have two full weeks to improve by less than 4.5 to achieve perfection. Of course, they will not score a perfect 100, but they are on pace to score higher than 99.15 in Indy.

Love or hate the show, that's something pretty darn special, and exciting for the activity

I aggree with you Tez clean up what ever small amount of dirt in the percussion caption . Man when your corps is this good

I would hate to be the one in charge of finding imperfections , those imperfections are like finding a needle in a haystack !

I guess it would be everyone in the staff's problem ? Send out the TICK police !!

I certainly hope not. I would be upset if the show that earns the incredible honor of "highest score ever" is a show that is NOT a crowd favorite by any means (not "speaking for the audience," audience reaction levels prove it). Sure, this show is doing something unique. They jazz run through their drill more than they march. Fantastic. But it isn't Cavis '02 or Cadets '05.

The Cavaliers earned their 99.15 with what may be the best visual program EVER (lots of personal opinion there, I know), in terms of the combo of design and execution, and having that visual program be extremely exciting for judges and fans alike. The Cadets got theirs by doing what the Cadets have always done well (great music and insane drill executed at an equally insane level), plus throwing in some interesting concepts with electronics, and having it also be incredibly exciting to so many fans and judges that witnessed it.

This year's Blue Devils.... Well, they DO have an incredible level of execution, whatever it is that they're doing. However, I can't help but think that this is one level of innovation that will take years to bash into the seasoned corps fan's skull (I'm still a relatively new corps fan at only five years, and it'll take ME years to accept it). With all of the changes over the last ten years, now we have to accept that the far-and-away leader in DCI's World Class doesn't even MARCH through most of their show? Since when did the roll-step become such an antiquated way of doing things?

To summarize my mess of thoughts, we as fans must demand the answer to this question from DCI's judges: Is Blue Devils 2010 REALLY better than "Frameworks" or "The Zone?"

No.....but maybe in the judges and BD's fan base eyes................

Being given the highest score in history in no way makes it the best show or drum corps in history.

It is all subjective and dependent on the season's scoring progression leading to Finals.

Nothing more and nothing less.

Significantly better, in my eyes.

Significantly better, in my eyes.

So THAT'S why you keep asking for them to open up the spread....

2002 put me in a coma...2001, and 2000 Cavaliers were better. 2010 Blue Devils is better than 2002 Cavaliers, its different and the guard and brass are much better..

G

No way!!!

OMG, we disagree on something. Well, you can't be perfect, G.
