I put this years' show of Slaugher on tenth avenue and Rhapsody in Blue. This show had

everything. Killer crowd pleasing ability, swagger, great musicianship and modern flair.

And I noticed something very interesting looking at Corpreps.com. This was the first season since 1989 that the Madison

Scouts did not have a show title. And that was the last time they played Slaughter on tenth Avenue.

Oops, not quite true Saul (if that's your real name. Lol) Their 1994 show did not have a title.

1 - 2010 - Slaughter on 10th Ave. Rhapsody in Blue. The Men of Madison are back!

2 - 2005 - The Carmen Project - needed a better close to the show and more hornline projection, otherwise I enjoyed it.

3 - 2003 - Gold, Green, and Red - The music of Benoit Jutras - a great rebound from 2002 and well designed show to get them back in Finals.

4 - 2000 - The Cossack Brotherhood - not really clean, but very entertaining!

Next tier

5 - 2004 - Madisonic - nice in concept, but something too sterile about this program.

6 - 2001 - Hot Jazz - Madison Style - played loud, music just not quite to the level of the 80's versions of B in B

7 - 2007 - Unbound - loved the intro/opener

These programs just didn't do it for me.

8 - 2008 - La Noche De La Iguana

9 - 2006 - Primal Forces

10 - 2002 - Conquest

11 - 2009 - Ralampago

I'm surprised that La Noche De La Iguana is so low on everyone's list. It was only 12th but what was wrong with it drumcorps-wise? Now, 2006 I didn;t get, too hard to march and not much fun if they could have.

Oh, and I think that the 2001 show was really the last of the 90's-style Madison shows.

Mike

When we were doing the Alumni corps, Scott Stewart drove me to the airport after one of the camps. He talked about how influential the 27 Alumni Corps in '94 had been to him, and how (by focusing on great tunes that already have a strong identity with the corps) it really connected with the audience. He said that that strongly influenced his programming for "several years" (which, if you look at the shows) pretty much encompasses most of the rest of his time as corps director. And, then, that came back in a huge way this year.

I love the 2010 show, and I've really liked many other shows this decade, but the 2001 show is still my favorite of the 20__'s. Do you think there might have been just a little bit of anger in that last note? :innocent::tongue::thumbup:

Technically 2010 is not part of the 2000-2009 decade (10 years). So my vote for

the 00-09 decade is CARMEN and my vote for the 10-19 decade is SLAUGHTER RHAPSODY.

2003 was also a GREAT, GREAT show, but 2005 certainly had the corps in the thick of things...actually ranked #1 in early July and #4 for most of the year.

Gold Green and Red. This is one of the best Madison shows I've EVER seen!

Man, 2003 was an awesome year!

I picked 2010 because I loved it, I got to relive my youth a bit but mainly because its the ONLY show from this decade.

Not to nit pick but all of these polls have 11 years in the first decade of the 21st century, it just doesn't work that way.

One of those things that get under my skin like the misuse of the words to & too, there and their, etc.

Also 2001 is a close 2nd for me.
