bluecoats88
Thanks! I am one of two DMs this year. The other's name is Dave Schaefer, he's been a conductor since 2009. Congrats - Keep the fine blue line tradition intact and enjoy your summer.
corpsband
In my opinion, having a deeper meaning for a show doesn't necessarily need to reach the audience. The performers know what is symbolized by each part of the show and it makes performing each part a little more involving and helps to make the performance a little more fun. I don't really care if the audience didn't understand that the opening set to last year's show symbolized more than a curvy line. Or why the guard was leaning at the angle. I just like knowing that there is a purpose for everything we have in a show. As for 2011, we have very cool music lined up, for sure. Agree 100% about the performers understanding every nuance of the show. Bawker's comment goes more to the design as perceived by the audience not the performer. riak157
The bluecoats show title is wrong. Their show is called "The Iron Stable" Its like about underground street fights or something.
luvs me sum mello!
...and I thought DCP was immature! That forum thread was interesting to say the least. Interesting show title for Blooo if it is true. If by interesting then you mean superior to DCP. Then yes. Hooray for getting to post what you actually want to say! Rumors and leaked info make the off season far more interesting. Any press is good press. Screw the "respect the corps announcement" crowd. If they didn't want it leaked they would've been more careful with the information.
luvs me sum mello!
For instance, we have two rival show titles for the Bluecoats. A Brave New World vs. The Iron Stable. Either way we get to talk about something other then the same ol same ol.

I was not comment on anything in your second paragraph. I simply was commenting on the probably age of the posters and their chosen method of expression. It was interesting... If they didn't want it leaked they would've been more careful with the information. Since many of these announcements are made at audition camps, corps actually have little control over the leaks. Sure they can probably get their actual members/volunteers/staff to keep quiet but there's no leverage over those who attended and aren't members. Given this reality corps can either (a)withhold show information from audition camps (b) re-think the "top-secret" show announcement concept © put up with leaks. It seems most just deal with ©. Ya, the second paragraph was more a general thing and not a direct response. Should've made that more clear.
