Jeff Ream
It's fun to watch people dissect the poster because their corps isn't included. I can't wait for the TOC. I have no corps. My dissection is based on the fact not all have been a champion in DCI. Other than that, it's cool tho shy on details

I didn't get a +1 ... :( Edited February 15, 2011 by charlie1223
garfield
To Drillmansop: To me: What's the difference between these two posts, garfield? I didn't get a +1 ... :( Just seeing if you're paying attention, Charlie. And I owed one to Drillman from some time ago. Here's your +1 but, sadly, it only took you back to even.

JonW
Yow... that's the 'Official' poster? My apologies to the artist - you should have dug a little deeper. There are three incompatible styles going on, with uncomplimentary colors. And a couple additional errors. First, there is an industrial style background (scrubbed text with cyan splatter). Then a '70s-style bubble-up circular things with heavy stroke around the images. On top is a standard POP-display logo banner. The dark pink/violet combination would not have been my choice, especially in a thick stroke. Ah well. As others already pointed out: two blue unis next to each other, two golds, two whites... yeearrg. Separate them pups and add some females. I applaud the effort, and it does offer a good base to work from but; grab some dinner, couple RedBulls, get back to your workstation and dig a little deeper. Note: this critique is offered through experience; over 20 years in advertising design and 12 in creating event graphics for several LV casinos.
corpsband
I have no corps. My dissection is based on the fact not all have been a champion in DCI. Other than that, it's cool tho shy on details Can't believe everyone is insisting on trying to spin TOC to mean "a show to include only those corps who have won the DCI championship". The shows are not "The Tour of Past Champions" or "Tour of Corps Who Used To Be Good But Now Didn't Quite Make The Top 8" or "Tour of Corps Who No Longer Exist But Did At One Time Win DCI". There are band contests (and I'm sure other events) similarly named. In fact each of the corps in the TOC shows did in fact finish ABOVE the rest of the field in 2010 (and presumably the 2012 TOC will consist of the 2011 top eight finalists etc...). So the term champions does apply in the sense which is clearly intended (the best corps from the previous season). The TOC name is simple and pretty clearly indicates that the events showcase some of the best corps DCI has to offer.
BozzlyB
I found this wonderful little poster on the DCI facebook page. Its clearly a Poster for the upcoming Tour of Champions!"Tour of Champions: Event Series -Interactive. Entertaining. Exciting. Extraordinary." ummmm, clearly. BozzlyB
That's the fun part as no one has said WHAT will be done..... I wanna shell out ton o' bucks and have no idea what I'm paying for.... suuuuuuure LOL, ya, I can't in a million years imagine whay you might encounter at a TOC drum corps show. Assuming you might end up wittnessing some drum corps might be a good place to start.
charlie1223
ummmm, clearly. You got the joke! I'm bad at jokes... :(
BozzlyB
I don't have issue with the design of the poster. But it's clearly a poster for fans of drum corps. If they wanted to appeal to a new viewing audience, they probably should have gone with a different design. Like what, exactly. You going to try and draw in a crowd with false advertising? What on the earth should the poster promo but drum corps?
