Plan9 Posted July 10, 2011 Share Posted July 10, 2011 I don't think this show goes much anywhere...they are going to max out the MUSIC captions pretty quickly (and they will probably win Brass). But the show is a drag visually and the music selection, well.....hey BD can play any song they want when it sounds that good, right? There's alot of people that love the melodies of BB, his tunes have meaning and are stories into themselves. You may not have any connection to his music, but many do. dugada Posted July 10, 2011 Share Posted July 10, 2011 Oh relax... people are rude to every corps... and BD gets a lot of heat... most of the time deserved... for being so good... yet wasting their talent with shows that are not enjoyable for most of the fans in the crowd. As for this year... I'm not sure yet... not a fan of MIC'D SCREAMERS..... it just seems like another BD show again. (Note this used to be a good thing... but things started switching in 07 or 08 when I started to really question design direction. I guess haters are gonna hate. I think he means he'd rather the best corps out there did shows that more of the audience enjoyed. Their talent was plenty on display, but a lot of people didn't enjoy last year's show, despite appreciating their amazing skill. It's not about hating on BD. We all love BD for their talent (which they have in both players and instructors), but they struggle to connect with the audience many years. BD has become the classic example of the adverse effects that can happen in any sort of metrics when the metric is focused on and not the overall goal of entertaining the audience. That's fine if DCI wants to go that route and if it's because of BD so be it. I just took exception with the wasting talent comment. I do think DCI needs to be careful with going to far to appease the fans cause most of them barely know what they're looking at.
