BobB
Need more pre-DCI inputs here!An "opener" is supposed to get the crowd's attention and make the first "statement" of the corps on the field. I'm not sure that "openers" today are what they used to be since the music and marching is so much more complicated, but I look forward to other inputs on all this. 'k, Rob.... 66 Troopers...How the West Was Won 67 (?) Cavaliers...Bully 68 Kilties...Strike Up the Band (better than 69 cuz it had the snippets of others corps' tunes...) 69 SCV...Procession of the Nobles (arcs from the corner!!!) 70 Madison...Cherokee
727driver
Lots of good ones already mentioned, but I would have to add 84 SCV. They had some rippin' baritones at the end of that tune. I also loved 91 PR. Puccini never sounded so good IMO. I thought the 96 BD opener was a lot of fun to play. It never failed to make a few people jump....it was really funny to watch from the field! Edited December 16, 2006 by 727driver
drumlaw80
Russian Christmas Music - SCV '87 Ditto ... and the greatest crowd reaction to that opener was probably in Allentown (DCI East). B)

Slow Adam
1991 Blue Devils "commencement" - untouchable in its energyand dynamics. Not to mention the dirtiest drumline in BD history. :P
