Do you expect a great improvement in their performances? It's that magical fairy score dust that DCI sprinkles on the field. Come Finals week, the same performance that was worth a 93 the Saturday before will be worth 98 on Finals night. (Go back and look at the scores archives over the years. Finals week scores are expected to top out at 97.5+ for the champs, followed by the rest of the spreads. Clearly the calendar is dictating the number more than any actual sort of empirical methodology.) What's REALLY funny is that if you took that 98 point finals performance and gave it in late June, the same judges would say it was worth 79. In terms of the predictions, the OP nails mine pretty much exactly, so I'll just give that prediction a second. The only changes I'd LIKE to see are Vanguard jumping over PR and Cadets into the 3 spot, and Cavaliers finding a way to close up the gap with Canton, but I'm doubtful either will happen. Do you expect a great improvement in their performances? Probably not, but 90's don't really mean anything any more...so why not? For me, it would just be nice to see some consistency in the caption scoring, especially percussion. If you looked at recaps to decide who they think is the best drum line, you'll get about five different answers, and big spreads to boot. Cascades To explain my putting PC above academy, even though the Allentown shows are different shows, the spreads fr the corps performing on different days stays pretty much the same. W/o the penalty, academy had a 76.9 and PC had a 76.65. I also think PC has more audience interaction and GE built into their show too.
