Barifonium
I'm thinking out loud here (ergo, I know it's easier said than done) but perhaps some alumni groups with help from their corps could start bingo halls in states where the conditions for Bingo are favorable instead of the corps home state? Barifonium
ooookay.... I kinda intended this thread to be more than 2 or 3 posts so bust out the bug repellent and let's open this nest!
drumcorpsfever
BINGO, tag days, candy and bake sales ... all fund-raising activities of the past, no longer are the major means in which to fund a modern, World-Class drum corps.

So Bill Cook's advice no longer holds (not trying to be snarky, but genuinely asking)? What's replaced them as money-makers then? I recall watching Throw It Down from the Bluecoats fundraising that they still were using bingo so I guess I'm a little surprised to hear it's been supplanted. JimF-LowBari
lol what a hornets nest this opens... let's just say "easier said than done" Step 1 - find legal expert. Step 2 (in PA) - change laws so games of chance can net more than they currently do... not to mention that Bingo Halls are now smoke free which cut down crowds Not downing the idea but worked them in the early 80s and very labor intensive (and smoke filled). I'm not sure you would get enough people to play bingo at a satellite location...

Barifonium
I'm not sure you would get enough people to play bingo at a satellite location... Oh don't thumbs-down the man! That was funny! But seriously... are there regions with a large amount of alumni that has favorable laws for such an operation? If so, there's the opening! Contra94
Bingo is a fairly large fundraiser in Northern California. At least it was when I was working for SCV Bingo a few months ago...
