Kamarag
What are you going to say when Crown (Knock on wood) wins it in Indy this year? You clearly haven't listened to the source material at all and are just being a complete ### Well, let's be honest...just because something is in the source material doesn't necessarily make it good. The counting in the original EOTB is cool, but the love story isn't. Crown turned the dialog of the original into narration, and it doesn't work.
DrumcorpsmademeaTuba
Also, though I am in no way a fan of narration, Crown's ballad narration is original to the music they use, and I must say that the "Dear John" text is read better by the corps member than the speaker on the Columbia recording of EoTB, who sounds like Jack Albertsen from 'Chico and the Man'. But that's a slippery slope! If we start being true to the source music in this activity, it'll open up the door for all sorts of things that don't embody drum corps at all! Crown confirmed for killing DCI, RIP 1972-2013... Wait..

And Crown performed it well. Though still corny!

Wait.. Too late. Scouts and Cavaliers already killed drum corps in 1971. Is BD on yet? Garry in Vegas
Notrevo
It's beyond my comprehension how Crown can be ahead of Santa Clara, and the Cadets for that matter. Too much voice. If it can't be said with the music, it shouldn't be said at all. Wow! How many said the same about BD last year?? ...And theirs was recorded. Spare me!

If it can't be said with the music, it shouldn't be said at all. I've never understood statements like this. So are you implying that Crown's use of narration alone should automatically put them behind anyone that doesn't use it? It's been said a million times: if you don't like narration, just say it. Statements like this make no sense at all and make you sound like you don't know what you're talking about.
